el 17 de enero de 1858.
Murió el 19 de diciembre
de 1940, en Medellín, a la

La primera edición de Frutos de mi tierra es de 1896 .

Habían aparecido algunos capítulos de esta obra en
publicaciones como la Revista Santandereana donde
Carrasquilla apareció con el seudónimo de Carlos
Malaquita y el texto se titulo Jamones y solomillos.
 RESUMEN

Dos historias paralelas: la de la familia Alzate, donde se cuenta cómo se

da el ascenso económico de esta familia liderada por Augusto y
Filomena, y todas las historias de traiciones, envidias, engaños,
pasiones y desasosiegos de ellos dos y sus hermanas Nieves y
Belarmina y, finalmente, la caída en desgracia de la familia; la segunda,
la de Martín Gala, un estudiante joven y rico que se enamora de la bella
Pepa Escandón y cómo esta lo hace sufrir.

basados en la cultura de la época y por lo
que se reconoce a los paisas, por su
emprendimiento que se hace notorio aquí.
