COCOS GRAM POSITIVOS
ESTAFILOCOCOS
• Son considerados oportunistas y
atacan a tejido previamente
dañado.
• Infiltración de color crema o gris
blanco de bordes definidos.
Yanoff M, Duker JS. Ophthalmology 4th ed. Edinburgh: Mosby Elsevier. 2013
COCOS GRAM POSITIVOS
ESTREPTOCOCOS
• Forman abscesos en estroma con
intensa reacción inflamatoria en
cámara anterior.
• S. pyogenes y pneumoniae dan
infecciones graves con úlceras
rápidamente progresiva, centrales.
• S. viridans: Queratopatía infecciosa
cristalina
Yanoff M, Duker JS. Ophthalmology 4th ed. Edinburgh: Mosby Elsevier. 2013
BACILOS GRAM NEGATIVOS
• PSEUDOMONA AERUGINOSA
• Más frecuente
• Son aerobios
• Uso de lentes de contacto.
• Infiltrado estromal denso supuración
marcada, descematocele y
perforación 2 a 5 días (necrosis
licuefactiva).
• Escleritis infecciosa.
Yanoff M, Duker JS. Ophthalmology 4th ed. Edinburgh: Mosby Elsevier. 2013
COCOS GRAM NEGATIVOS
• NEISSERIA
• N. gonorrhoeae y N. meningitidis
• Intracelular.
• Oftalmía del recién nacido
• En adultos: abundante secreción
purulenta
• Queratitis: edema difuso o una
úlcera anillo con hipopión, con
riesgo significativo de necrosis
corneal y perforación.
Yanoff M, Duker JS. Ophthalmology 4th ed. Edinburgh: Mosby Elsevier. 2013
MICOBACTERIAS
• Lentamente progresiva.
• Común: cuerpo extraño, trauma,
cirugía (LASIK).
• Dolor severo: 2 a 8 semanas luego
de colonización.
• Dificultad en el diagnóstico.
• No respuesta a manejo
convencional.

ANTICOLAGENASAS
• Las colagenasas y las metaloproteinasas de la
matriz están involucradas queratólisis en las fases
agudas.
• Reducción del melting corneal disminuiría la
perforación corneal y la necesidad de
queratoplastia penetrante terapéutica.
