 I Like to Paint Mini-Book

You will need:

• Mini-Book printables
• Colored pencils
• Markers
• Stapler

Note: If children will be painting their mice

tomorrow, DO NOT assemble the book
yet.

Since there is a lot to color in this book,

we have split it into two days. Today children will just focus on writing the color
words and coloring the paint cans.

1. Watch the Mini-Book video.

2. Start by having children trace the color words on the paint cans. Markers
work good for this because they make slightly thicker lines.
3. Next have them go back through the book and color the paint coming out of
the can the same color as the words.

Part 2

You will need:

• Mini-Book
• Dot paints (or paint mixed from the previous activity)

1. Have children paint all of the mice in their book. They should paint their mice
the same color as the paint bucket on each page.

2. Once all the pages are dry, you can fold and staple their books. To assemble
the books: Fold the pages so the text is showing, then stack the pages in order.
Staple three times on the left side.

3. Next have them read their book, pointing to each word as they read.

Children can use any QR code reader to scan the code on the front cover, which
connects to a video of the mini-book being read. This is a great way to support
learning at home, as well as help with pronunciation.
 Mini-libro Me gusta pintar

Necesitarás:
• Imprimibles de mini libros
• Lápices de colores
• Marcadores
• Engrapadora

Dado que hay mucho para colorear en

Parte 2

1. Haz que los niños pinten todos los ratones en su libro. Deben pintar sus
ratones del mismo color que la lata de pintura de cada página.

2. Una vez que todas las páginas estén secas, pueden doblar y engrapar sus

 Color Hunt

You will need:

• Color Hunt printables

• Colored pencils

1. Have children trace the color words.

2. Next they will walk around the room and draw a picture of an item they
found in each box. For example, a banana in the yellow box.

+PLUS+ For a greater challenge, children could write the names of items they
find in each box, or make a tally count of how many items of each color
they can find.

 Color Mixing

You will need:

• Paper plate
• Red, blue, and yellow paint
• Paintbrushes (one for all 6 colors if possible)
• Color mixing printable

1. Say “Today we are going to be like the mice in our Mouse Paint book. I will
put some paint puddles on your plate, then we will pretend your paintbrush is
like a mouse. Wait and listen to hear where to make your mouse walk."

2. Squirt red, yellow, and blue paint on three corners of the plate.

3. Say "The first mouse mixed red and yellow." Demonstrate how to take a
paintbrush full of red and a paintbrush full of yellow, and make two puddles
close together in between them. Take a new brush and mix them together
to see what color they make.

4. Have children record their discovery on the Color Mixing page by painting
the red, yellow, and orange paint blobs.

5. Repeat the process with yellow and blue.

6. Repeat the process with red and blue.

 Mezclando colores

Necesitaras:

• Plato de papel
• Pintura roja, azul y amarilla.
• Pinceles (uno para los 6 colores si es posible)
• Imprimible de Mezclando de colores

1. Di “Hoy vamos a ser como los ratones en nuestro libro Pintura de ratón.
Pondré algunos charcos de pintura en tu plato, luego fingiremos que tu pincel
es como un ratón. Espera y escucha para oír dónde hacer caminar a tu
ratón."

2. Rocía pintura roja, amarilla y azul en tres esquinas del plato.

3. Di “El primer ratón mezcló rojo y amarillo". Demuestre cómo tomar un

 Mystery Name Paint

You will need:

• Mystery Name Paint printable

• White crayon
• Watercolor paint (or any paint mixed with water)
• Paintbrush

To Prepare: Use a white crayon to write your child's first name in the top
box, and last name in the bottom box of the mouse mystery name
printable.

1. Say "Today you are going to make mouse mystery names. The mice on
your paper are holding signs with your name hidden inside, but you have to
use paint to reveal them."

2. Give children their mystery name printable, and have them use watercolor
paints to paint inside the boxes. As they paint, the white writing should show
up and reveal the mystery!
 Pintura de nombres misteriosos

Necesitarás:

• Imprimible de Pintura de nombres misteriosos

• Crayón blanco
• Pintura de acuarela (o cualquier pintura mezclada con agua)

Para preparar: Usa un crayón blanco para escribir el nombre de tu hijo en el

cuadro superior y el apellido en el cuadro inferior del imprimible de Pintura de
nombres misteriosos.

1. Di "Hoy vas a hacer nombres misteriosos para el ratón. Los ratones en tu

papel tienen carteles con tu nombre escondido dentro, pero tienes que usar
pintura para revelarlos".

2. Da a los niños su imprimible de nombres misteriosos y pídeles que usen

 Hickory Dickory Dock

1. Color version – put these in a binder with sheet protectors to

create yor own listening center, or copy on 11x14 paper and laminate
to use as song posters.

2. Black/White version – young children or emerging writers can

color their own page. Collect them to make their own song book.

These also feature a QR code in the corner. When scanned with any QR code reader,
they connect to a YouTube video created with SafeShare. This means children are not
able to see or access any recommended videos, or any other links in YouTube... ONLY
the song chosen. This is one of the only ways I have found to truly watch YouTube
content in a “safe” way.
 Hickory Dickory Dock

1. Versión en color – Ponlos en una carpeta con protectores de

hojas para crear tu propio centro de audición, o copia en papel de
11x14 y lamínalo para usar como carteles de canciones.

2. Versión en blanco y negro – Los niños pequeños o los escritores

emergentes pueden colorear su propia página. Colecciónalos para

 Mouse Patterns

You will need:

• Mouse Pattern Card printables

• Manipulatives (buttons, pom poms, etc. in the colors red, orange, yellow,
green, blue, purple)

Note: The following instructions are for completing the activity by using
manipulatives. You can also print out the Individual Mouse Cards to match
instead of using manipulatives.

1. Show the six different mouse cards (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
and have children practice signing each color. Signing Savvy has a nice free
handout with all the color signs you can download here.

2. Show children a Mouse Pattern card. Have them say the pattern out
loud, either by saying the name of the color or signing it.

3. When they get to the blank space, they will complete the pattern by
signing the color that comes next and placing the correct color manipulative.

4. Repeat with all of the Mouse Pattern cards.

+PLUS+ Have children use the Individual Mouse Cards to create their own
pattern, then record it on a black/white Mouse Pattern card.
 Patrones de ratón

Necesitarás:

 Mouse Measurement

You will need:

• Mouse Measurement cards (Color or B/W)

• Mouse Measurement Worksheet
• Something to measure with (cheese-themed manipulatives are fun like
yellow pom poms, orange LEGOs, cheese crackers, etc.)

To Prepare:

• Print off the mouse measurement cards and cut them out.
• Put your measuring "cheese" in a container for easy access.

1. Have your children measure one of the mice, and count how many pieces
of “cheese” they used.

2. Record their measurement on the worksheet by writing the number in

the box.

Note: They can "record their measurement" in the box in a way that is
appropriate for them. If writing numbers is too difficult, have your child
draw how many objects they used.
3. Repeat until they have measured all the mice.

+PLUS+ Have children write the number and make the correct number of
tally marks in the box.
 Medidas de ratón

Necesitaras:

• Tarjetas de Medidas de ratón (color o B / N)

• Hoja de trabajo de Medidas de ratón
• Algo con lo que medir (los manipulativos con temática de queso son
divertidos como pompones amarillos, LEGO naranjas, galletas de queso,
etc.)

Para preparar:

• Imprime las tarjetas de medidas del ratón y recórtalas.

• Pon tu "queso" medidor en un recipiente para facilitar el acceso.

1. Haz que tus niños midan uno de los ratones y cuenten cuántas piezas de
"queso" usaron.

2. Registra su medida en la hoja de trabajo escribiendo el número en el cuadro.

Nota: Pueden "registrar su medida" en el cuadro de una manera que sea

 Mouse Shape Graph

You will need:

• Mouse Shape Graph printables

• Shape Cheese cards or yellow pipe cleaners
• Manipulatives or pencil for marking the graph
• Container for cards

To Prepare: There are two options for the shape cheeses. You can cut out
the Shape Cheese cards, or have children help you form yellow pipe cleaners
into the five shapes. Then put the cheese shapes into a container.

1. Children will reach in and choose a cheese, then say the shape.

2. Next, they will mark the same shape on their graph. (For example, if they
choose the square cheese, they will mark a box in the row that has the
square cheese.)

3. Have them choose another shape cheese card and repeat the process.

4. Keep going until one number "wins" or gets all the way to 10!
 Gráfico de formas de ratón

Necesitarás:

• Imprimibles de gráficos de formas de ratón

• Tarjetas de formas de queso o limpiapipas amarillos
• Manipulativos o lápiz para marcar el gráfico.
• Contenedor para tarjetas

Para preparar: Hay dos opciones para las formas de quesos. Puedes
recortar las tarjetas de formas de queso o pedir a los niños que te ayuden a
dar cinco formas a los limpiapipas amarillos. Luego pon las formas de queso
en un recipiente.

1. Los niños meterán la mano y elegirán un queso, luego dirán la forma.

 Mouse Shape Spin

You will need:

• Mouse Shape Spin printables (color or black/white)

• Pencil
• Paperclip
• Manipulatives (orange or yellow pom poms, snap cubes, LEGO, etc.)

Note: If this is too much for one child, you can have two children take turns
spinning and covering the same sheet. One child can use orange cheese and
the other yellow cheese..

1. Make your own spinner by putting the point of a pencil in the middle of the
spinner. Hold the pencil upright and have children flick the paperclip to spin a
shape cheese.

2. Next they will take a cheese manipulative, and put it on top of the
matching shape mouse. (For example, if they spin a cheese heart, they will
put a manipulative on the heart mouse.)

3. Continue spinning and putting on manipulatives until all of the shape mice
have been covered.
 Giros de formas de ratón

Necesitaras:

• Imprimibles de Giros de formas de ratón (color o B / N)

• Lápiz
• Clip de papel
• Manipulativos (pompones naranjas o amarillos, cubos snap, LEGO, etc.)

Nota: Si esto es demasiado para un niño, puedes hacer que dos niños se
turnen para girar y cubrir la misma hoja. Un niño puede usar queso naranja y
el otro queso amarillo.

1. Haz tu propia ruleta colocando la punta de un lápiz en el medio de la ruleta.

Sostén el lápiz en posición vertical y pide a los niños que muevan el clip para
hacer girar un queso.
