Fruit Salad Stacking Rings
Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver, Rouge (approx. 0.7 ozs, 36.4 yrds)

Finished dimensions – approximately 10 inches tall, and 6 inches wide at the base.

You must know how to start with a magic ring, how to crochet in rounds, and change colors.
Rnd - Round
Ch – chain
St, sts – stitch, stitches
Sl st – slip stitch
Sc – single crochet
Inc – increase, 2 sts into one stitch
Hdc – half double crochet
Dc – double crochet
Sctog - single crochet together, decrease
Inv – Invisible
Invsc2tog – Invisible single crochet 2 together; this is essentially a decrease, but done in such a way as to make the
continuous stitching smoother and the decrease not as noticeable
1. Insert hook into front loop only of next stitch, DO NOT yarn over.
2. Insert hook into front loop of second stitch.
3. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.
4. Yarn over and pull through last loop.
Watermelon, Bottom Base (Rouge, Baby Pink, Soft White, Green Tones)
Beginning with Rouge, make a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. Do not join. Place stitch marker, and move up with each round.
Rnd 2: inc in each st around; 12 sc

Stop here to sew in the watermelon seeds in Black. Just make sure all your ends are on the inside of the watermelon, as
we will be stuffing and closing over them anyway.
Change to Soft White.
Rnd 20: (invsc2tog, sc in next 13 sts) repeat around; 84 sc
Change to Baby Pink.
Rnd 21: (invsc2tog, sc in next 12 sts) repeat around; 78 sc
Change to Rouge.
Rnd 22: (invsc2tog, sc in next 11 sts) repeat around; 72 sc
Rnd 23: (invsc2tog, sc in next 10 sts) repeat around; 66 sc

Begin stuffing gently, filling in the edges, and stuff as you go. You don’t want to overstuff, so to avoid making it too puffy
in the center, after each rnd, add a little more stuffing and push to the outsides.
Rnd 27: (invsc2tog, sc in next 6 sts) repeat around; 42 sc
Rnd 28: (invsc2tog, sc in next 5 sts) repeat around; 36 sc
Rnd 29: (invsc2tog, sc in next 4 sts) repeat around; 30 sc
Rnd 30: (invsc2tog, sc in next 3 sts) repeat around; 24 sc

Rnd 33: (invsc2tog) repeat around; 6 sc. Fasten off and weave in end. Then, sew on the seeds with Black on this side as
well. Start in the center and end back in the center. Knot off there because we will be covering the center with the
banana post anyway.
Banana Post (Coffee and Daffodil)
Beginning with Coffee, make a magic ring
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. Do not join. Place stitch marker, and move up with each round.
Rnd 2-3: sc around; 6 sc
Change to Daffodil
Rnd 4-6: sc around; 6 sc
Rnd 7: sc in next 2 sts, inc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts; 8 sc
Rnd 8: sc in next 2 sts, (inc, sc in next st) 2x, sc in next 2 sts; 10 sc
Rnd 9: sc in next 2 sts, (inc, sc in next 2 sts) 2x, sc in next 2 sts; 12 sc

Do not fasten off. Beginning the peeled parts.
Row 1: ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from the hook and in next 10 chs, sctog the last ch and next sc on the last rnd of banana, sl st in
next st on banana; 12 sc and 1 sl st
Row 2: ch 1, turn, sk the sl st, sc in next 11 sts, inc in last st; 13 sc
Row 3: ch 1, turn, sc in next 12 sts, sctog the last st on peel and next st on the last rnd, sl st in next st on banana; 13 sc
and 1 sl st
Row 4: ch 1, turn, sk the sl st, sc in next 12 sts, inc in last st; 14 sc
Row 5: ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 11 sts, sctog the last st on peel and the first st on the last rnd, sl st in next st on banana;
13 sc and 1 sl st
Row 6: ch 1, turn, sk the sl st, sc in next 13 st; 13 sc
Row 7: ch 1, turn, dec, sc in next 10 st, sctog the last st on peel and the first st on the last rnd, sl st in next st on banana;

Repeat rows 1-7 two more times to create 3 total peels.
Fasten off after completing the third peel, and ending in the last st from rnd 34. Leave a very long tail for sewing the
banana onto your watermelon base. Stuff the banana and pin into place.
Orange Ring (White and Pumpkin)

Begin with White, ch 30 and join with sl st to first ch to form a ring
Rnd 1: ch 1, sc in same st as sl st, sc around; 30 sc. Do not join. Place stitch marker and continue.
Change to Pumpkin
Rnd 2: skip sl st and ch 1 from rnd 1 and begin in the first sc, (inc, sc in next 2 sts) repeat around; 40 sc
Rnd 3 (inc, sc in next 3 sts) repeat around; 50 sc
Rnd 4: (inc, sc in next 4 sts) repeat around; 60 sc
Rnd 5: (inc, sc in next 5 sts) repeat around; 70 sc
Rnd 6: (inc, sc in next 6 sts) repeat around; 80 sc
Change to White.
Rnd 7: sc around; 80 sc
Change to Pumpkin.
Rnd 8-11: sc around; 80 sc
Change to White.

Rnd 13: (invsc2tog, sc in next 6 sts) repeat around; 70 sc

Rnd 18: sc around; 30 sc. Sl st in next sc and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing closed.
Before stuffing and closing up, stitch on the white orange slice dividers. You can embroider them OR slip stith them on. I
used the sl st method, which is more involved, but provides an extra texture for little fingures. The pictures below
describe this in better detail.

Stuff the ring, as you close it up, sewing the last rnd to the first.
Red Apple Ring (Soft White and Cherry Red)
Begin with Soft White, ch 30 and join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch 1, sc in same st as sl st, sc around; 30 sc. Do not join. Place stitch marker and continue.
Rnd 2: skip sl st and ch 1 from rnd 1 and begin in the first sc, (inc, sc in next 2 sts) repeat around; 40 sc
Rnd 3 (inc, sc in next 3 sts) repeat around; 50 sc

Change to Cherry Red.

Before sewing the apple ring closed, add little apple seeds with brown yarn. Embroider them onto the white part of the
apple. I did 3 on each side.

Stuff the ring, as you close it up, sewing the last rnd to the first. As you get to the top center (between the two sets of
seeds), fold it down and sew through the top of the apple to create the dent where the stem will go.
Apple Stem (Coffee)
Make a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. Do no join. Place stitch marker, and move up with each round.
Rnd 2: sc around; 6 sc
Rnd 3: (invsc2tog, sc in next st) repeat around; 4 sc
Rnd 4-5: sc around; 4 sc Fasten off, and sew on the top of the apple
Apple Leaf (Spring Green)
Ch 6
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 3 hdc in last ch. Turn work to crochet on the opposite
side of the ch. Hdc in first ch on the opposite side, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st on the top and final ch
to make the point of the leaf. Fasten off, and sew next to the stem. Weave in any loose ends.
Grapes (Grape) Make 13
Make a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. Do not join. Place stitch marker, and move up with each round.
Rnd 2: inc in each st around; 12 sc
Rnd 3-6: sc around; 12 sc
Gently stuff.
Rnd 7: invsc2tog around; 6 sc, fasten off and close up. Leave the ends for sewing together.
Grape Leaf (Spring Green)
Rnd 1: Ch 6. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 3 hdc in last ch. Turn work to crochet on
the opposite side of the ch. Hdc in first ch on the opposite side, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, sl st in
last ch. Place st marker.
