Example: I am reading a book. Yo estoy leyendo un libro (en este preciso instante). You are playing football. T ests jugando ftbol. 2. Also used to describe actions that are being developed around the time that we speak, though not necessarily in that moment:

Example: I am studying French. Yo estoy estudiando francs (me he matriculado en una academia, pero no necesariamente en este preciso momento estoy con los libros de francs). 3. Also used to describe an action that will take place in the near future and which has taken a final decision. In this case, you always have to mention the time in which to develop action:
Asimismo, se utiliza para describir una accin que va a tener lugar en el futuro prximo y sobre la que se ha tomado una resolucin firme. En este caso, siempre se tiene que mencionar el tiempo en el que se va a desarrollar la accin:
Example: I am going to London next week. Yo voy a Londres la prxima semana (la accin se va a desarrollar en el futuro prximo y existe una decisin firme por mi parte de llevarla a cabo)
4. Another use of this continuum is to describe actions that are repeated often in this case, prayer is accompanied by the word "always"
Otro uso del presente continuo es para describir acciones que se vienen repitiendo con frecuencia; en este caso, la oracin viene acompaada del adverbio "always" (siempre):
Example: He is always working. l est siempre trabajando (con el significado de que trabaja frecuentemente, quizs, incluso, excesivamente). El Verbo to-be: I am = I'm/I am not = I'm not You are = You're/You are not = You're not He is = He's/He is not = He isn't She is = She's/She is not = She isn't It is = It's/It is not = It isn't We are = We're/We are not = We aren't They are = They're/They are not = They're not
Afirmative sentences: Structure: Subject + el verb to be + present participle (verbo + ing). Example: 1. I am eating something. Estoy comiendo algo. 2. You are talking to somebody. Estas hablando con alguien.
3. He is listening to something. Est escuchando algo. (l) 4. She is reading something. Est leyendo algo. (ella) 5. It is going somewhere. Va a algn sitio. 6. You are looking at something. Mirais algo. 7. We are wearing something. Llevamos algo puesto. 8. They are sitting somewhere. Estn sentados en algn sitio.

Nota: Contracciones: Se suele contraer "It is" con "it's", "it is not" con "it's
not" o "it isn't", "you are" con "you're", "we are not" con "we're not" o "we aren't", "that is" con "that's", "that is not" con "that's not" o "that isn't", etc. (Nota: "I am not" solamente se contrae con "I'm not").
