Temperatura. Es la
medida de qué tan frío o
qué tan caliente está
algo. La temperatura de
la Tierra depende
principalmente del calor
del Sol.
Humedad. Es la cantidad de
agua que hay en la
atmósfera. Los lugares con
mucha vegetación son más
húmedos.
Viento. Es el
movimiento del aire que
ocurre cuando las masas
de aire se calientan y
suben o se enfrían y se
mueven a zonas más
bajas.
Precipitación. Cuando el
agua se evapora en el aire,
las moléculas se unen y
forman nubes. Cuando
hay demasiadas
moléculas en las nubes, se
precipitan en la superficie
de la Tierra.
Temperature. It is the
measure of how cold or
how hot something is.
The Earth's temperature
depends mainly on the
heat of the Sun.
Wind. It is the
movement of air that
occurs when air masses
heat up and rise or cool
and move to lower
areas.
Precipitation. When water
evaporates into the air,
the molecules join
together and form clouds.
When there are too many
molecules in the clouds,
they precipitate to the
Earth's surface.
Distance from the sea. Water takes longer to cool and warm
than land. That is why the climate of areas near the ocean is
less extreme.
Algunas zonas, como las cercanas al ecuador, reciben calor y luz solar
directa durante todo el año. En estas zonas las precipitaciones suelen
variar significativamente según la época del año.
Because of the tilt of the Earth and its elliptical orbit, the rays from the
Sun hit each area of the planet with different intensity at times of the
year. This causes the four seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn.
Some areas, such as those near the equator, receive heat and direct
sunlight throughout the year. In these areas, rainfall usually varies
significantly depending on the time of year.
Hay cinco categorías principales de climas:
Clima polar. Este clima se encuentra en los círculos ártico y antártico. Las
temperaturas rara vez superan los 0 °C, incluso en verano. Apenas hay
precipitaciones.
There are five main categories of climates:
Polar climate. This climate is found in the Arctic and Antarctic circles.
Temperatures rarely exceed 0°C, even in summer. There is hardly any precipitation.
Las temperaturas y la cantidad de precipitaciones en cada clima
determinan el tipo de vegetación y animales que viven en cada zona.
Clima templado.
Llenos de vegetación.
Cuentan con bosques caducifolios.
También hay arbustos, árboles más
pequeños, musgo y grandes
extensiones de pastizales.
Mild weather.
Full of vegetation.
They have deciduous forests. There are
also shrubs, smaller trees, moss and
large expanses of grassland.
