DCE (Data Communications Equipment): DCE refers to the device or equipment in a serial
communication link that provides the physical interface and timing for the communication.
DCE devices are responsible for generating and receiving the electrical signals that
represent the data being transmitted. Common examples of DCE devices include modems,
switches, and routers.

DTE (Data Terminal Equipment): DTE refers to the device or equipment in a serial
communication link that serves as the data source or destination. DTE devices are typically
the end-user devices that generate or receive data. Common examples of DTE devices
include computers, terminals, and printers.
