INTRODUCTION (INTRODUCCIÓN)

In the world, all cultures and nations celebrate different events during the year, on specific
dates of a cultural, political or religious nature. A holiday is one that is not a working day (in
the labor sphere) or that is not a working day (in the procedural sphere), and can be
Sunday (in most countries of the world), Saturday (in the countries influenced by Jewish
culture) or Friday (in countries influenced by Islamic culture), in addition to other days

 1. DIA DEL NIÑO (CHILDREN'S DAY)

NIGERIA
This special day is held on May 27 and not in April.

It is celebrated on May 5, a festival called tango no Sekku is
held, which allows parents to spend time with their children
during the day and not going to work. All Japanese houses
decorate their homes with carp fish ornaments. Regarding
food, the adults prepare some desserts, mainly made of rice,
beans and other typical ingredients of the Asian continent.

Se festeja el día 5 de mayo, se realiza una festividad llamada
tango no Sekku, la cual permite que los padres pasen tiempo
con sus hijos durante el día y no yendo a trabajar. Todas las
casas japonesas decoran sus viviendas con adornos de peces
carpa. Con respecto a la comida, los adultos preparan
algunos postres, principalmente de arroz frijol y otros
ingredientes típicos del continente asiático.
 2. DIA DE LAS MADRES (MOTHER'S DAY)

MEXICO
It is celebrated on May 10. During this holiday, people often send flowers, gifts and
cards to their mothers, as well as prepare a special meal for them or take them
out to dinner at a restaurant. Various activities are also carried out to celebrate
this day, such as concerts, parades and events in public squares.

Se celebra el diez de mayo. Durante esta festividad, las personas suelen enviar
flores, regalos y tarjetas a sus madres, además de prepararles una comida especial
o llevarlas a cenar en un restaurante. También se realizan diversas actividades para
celebrar este día, como conciertos, desfiles y eventos en las plazas públicas.
USA
In the United States it takes place on the second
Sunday in May. In this commemoration, flowers,
gifts and small surprises for mothers stand out.
Also the restaurants are filled with crowds,
because it is a day to stay away from daily chores.
ESTADOS UNIDOS
En Estados Unidos tiene lugar el segundo domingo
de mayo. En esta conmemoración destacan las
flores, regalos y pequeñas sorpresas para las
mamás. También los restaurantes se llenan de
multitudes, porque es un día para mantenerse
alejados de los quehaceres cotidianos.
GERMANY
The celebration of Mother's Day in Germany, known as
Muttertag, takes place on the second Sunday of May, as in many
other countries in Europe, America and Asia. It is a date on
which children usually travel to visit their mothers to share this
day with them. They also bring them gifts, such as bouquets of
flowers or cards, as a token of appreciation and affection.

La celebración del Día de la Madre en Alemania, conocido
como Muttertag, tiene lugar el segundo domingo del mes de
mayo, como en muchos otros países de Europa, América y Asia.
Es una fecha en la que los hijos suelen viajar a visitar a sus
madres para compartir con ellas este día. También les llevan
regalos, como ramos de flores o tarjetas, como muestra de
agradecimiento y cariño.
 3. DIA DEL PADRE (FATHER'S DAY)

THAILAND
Father's Day in Thailand is unique in that it is celebrated on December
5th. This day commemorates King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the country's
longest-serving monarch. It is an official holiday, representing the King's
birthday and Father's Day.

El Día del Padre en Tailandia es único porque se celebra el 5 de
diciembre. Este día conmemora al rey Bhumibol Adulyadej, el monarca

COSTA RICA
Father's Day is celebrated in Costa Rica on the
third Sunday of June, just as Americans do. Costa
Ricans celebrate fathers who are living and
deceased, as well as single mothers who fulfill both
roles. No particular traditions other than family
time

NORWAY
Father's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of November.
In 2023, it will take place on November 12. The event is not a
national holiday in the country. However, most families still
celebrate by giving Dad the perfect gift and making plans to
spend time together throughout the day. A common tradition is
to allow dad to sleep in as long as he wants.

El Día del Padre se celebra el segundo domingo de noviembre.
En 2023, tendrá lugar el 12 de noviembre. El evento no es un
feriado nacional en el país. Sin embargo, la mayoría de las
familias todavía lo celebran dándole a papá el regalo perfecto y
haciendo planes para pasar tiempo juntos durante el día. Una
tradición común es permitir que papá duerma hasta tarde
cuanto quiera.
 4. DIA DEL AMOR Y AMISTAD (DAY OF LOVE AND
FRIENDSHIP)
ITALIA
El día de los enamorados se celebra de modo que las parejas salgan a caminar a un
parque, se lean poemas de amor y pasen un momento juntos; mientras que las
mujeres solteras deben despertar antes del amanecer para encontrar a su próximo
prospecto: el primer hombre que vean ese día, será su marido en un año.
JAPON
Se suele celebrar con prácticas principalmente occidentales, existen algunas
diferencias. Por ejemplo, las mujeres son quienes regalan los chocolates a los
hombres, y cada tipo de chocolate se determina según la naturaleza de la relación.
DINAMARCA
Comenzó a celebrarse el Día de San Valentín hace 15 años. Pero en vez de regalar
flores y chocolates, las parejas se intercambian cartas de amor ilustradas con
fotografías de ellos. También se acostumbra que los hombres regalen “cartas de
bromas”, la cual contiene poemas chistosos en papeles cortados y se envía de
manera anónima.
ITALY
Valentine's Day is celebrated so that couples go for a walk in a park, read love
poems and spend a moment together; while single women must wake up
before dawn to find their next prospect: the first man they see that day will be
her husband in a year.
JAPAN
It is usually celebrated with mainly Western practices, there are some
differences. For example, women are the ones who give chocolates to men,
and each type of chocolate is determined by the nature of the relationship.
DENMARK
Valentine's Day began to be celebrated 15 years ago. But instead of giving
flowers and chocolates, couples exchange love letters illustrated with photos
of themselves. It is also customary for men to give away "joke letters," which
contain humorous poems on cut paper and are sent anonymously.
 5. NAVIDAD (CHRISTMAS)
FILIPINAS
La Navidad se celebra durante todos los meses acabados en –bre, es decir,
septiembre, octubre, noviembre y diciembre. Desde primeros de septiembre
las calles se engalanan con decoración y luces navideñas y la celebración
puede llegar hasta el mismo Día de San Valentín.
ALEMANIA
Fecha: 24 al 26 de diciembre. Los platillos típicos para esa fecha son cordero,
pato, pescado, salchichas y ensalada de papas. En algunas familias todos los
miembros reciben un plato lleno de dulces y frutas.
NUEVA ZELANDA
Se celebra en verano, los árboles de navidad son distintos, ya que este país
tiene su propia versión: el Pohutukawa. Este árbol nativo florece en diciembre,
ya que para ellos es primavera y generalmente crece a orillas del mar.
PHILIPPINES
Christmas is celebrated during all the months ending in -bre, that is,
September, October, November and December. From the beginning of
September the streets are decked out with decorations and Christmas
lights and the celebration can last until Valentine's Day itself.
GERMANY
Date: December 24 to 26. The typical dishes for that date are lamb, duck,
fish, sausages and potato salad. In some families all members receive a
plate full of sweets and fruits.
NEW ZEALAND
It is celebrated in summer, the Christmas trees are different, since this
country has its own version: the Pohutukawa. This native tree blooms in
December, since it is spring for them and it generally grows by the sea.
 6. AÑO NUEVO (NEW YEAR)
JAPON
Si algo gusta en Japón es todo lo relacionado con el misticismo y la espiritualidad. Por
ello, la última noche del año, todos los templos budistas hacen sonar sus campanas
hasta 108 veces, una por cada pecado que habita latente en todo ser humano.
ESPAÑA
Su trío de doces: 12 uvas, 12 meses y las 12 de la noche. Asimismo, si buscas un año
cargado de amor y pasión, la lencería roja no puede faltar durante la noche, sobre
todo en el momento de las uvas. Las parejas también suelen meter sus alianzas de
boda en la copa de champán cuando brindan por el nuevo año, con mucho cuidado de
no presenciar la primera desgracia del curso.
CHINA
Las celebraciones del Año Nuevo Chino empiezan en el primer día del primer mes
lunar en el calendario chino y se extienden por 15 jornadas, cuando llega la luna llena.
Es una época en que las usualmente las familias se reúnen y atraviesan largas distancias
para poder llegar a casa a ver a sus seres queridos.
JAPAN

SPAIN

 7. DIA DE MUERTOS
ESTADOS UNIDOS
Halloween o Noche de Brujas es una de las fiestas más importantes en dicho país. Se
celebra el 31 de octubre en un trasfondo religioso muy importante, pues se refiere al
día en que regresan los muertos de ultratumba. Para la comunidad cristiana es un
festejo demoníaco dedicado a Satanás.
INGLATERRA
La festividad milenaria de Halloween se celebra en Inglaterra, al igual que en Estados
Unidos el 31 de octubre. Para festejar, los ingleses preparan platillos como el “Elixir de
la Bruja” está hecho a base de zumo de arándonos, manzana, naranja y uva. Los
ingleses acostumbran adornar sus casas con figuras y monstruos espeluznantes.
HAITÍ
En una isla caribeña, el 2 de noviembre se festeja el "Fet Gede" o "Día de Todas las
Almas". Las calles de Puerto Príncipe se atestan de gente vestida de rojo y negro, los
colores de los espíritus de sus antepasados, y se dirigen al cementerio a participar en
el rito sagrado.
USA
Halloween or Halloween is one of the most important holidays in that
country. It is celebrated on October 31 with a very important religious
background, as it refers to the day the dead return from beyond the grave. For
the Christian community it is a demonic celebration dedicated to Satan.
ENGLAND
The millennial holiday of Halloween is celebrated in England, as in the United

número de mexicanos y latinos se reúnen para

También en la Basílica de San Pedro, en Roma,
existe una capilla dedicada a la Virgen de
Guadalupe.
España, Sevilla, Santa María de la Esperanza es
conocida como la virgen de la Macarena.

 10. DIA DE LA RAZA (DAY OF RACE)
El 12 de octubre ha pasado de ser el tradicional Día de la Raza, en este día se
realizan diversas manifestaciones en toda América Latina y México para
conmemorar el Día de la Resistencia Indígena, rinde un homenaje a la unión y la
diversidad. Música, deportistas, pueblos, tradiciones, festivales, cantos, carnavales,
danzas, instrumentos y recetas, entre otros, son fruto del sincretismo
prehispánico, hispánico y afrodescendiente.
Bahamas: día festivo, llamado Discovery Day (Día del Descubrimiento).
Belice: día festivo, llamado Pan-American Day (Día Panamericano).
Bolivia: por decreto del 12/10/201112 se denomina "Día de la
Descolonización", después de haberse llamado "Día de la Liberación, de la
Identidad y de la Interculturalidad".
Chile: fue declarado día festivo, y lo denominaron "Aniversario del
Descubrimiento de América"

CONCLUSIÓN (CONCLUSION)

Many countries have different perspectives that exist on their holidays and what they do on
them, as well as on different days. From the various celebrations that we have seen, it is
evident that values, tradition, religion, ancestry and culture have a great importance
regarding the celebration of the different holidays. We now know that there are many
similarities and differences that exist between the way we celebrate and the way Latin
American cultures celebrate.
