Just as God has created a moving world, He has also provided the fuels we need to keep our inventions moving. In order for lights to come on, for machines to operate, and for cars to run, we must have fuel, A primary source of fuel has been fossil fuels or fuels that come from plant and animal fossils. These fuels are the ones we are most familiar with, like gas, oil, and coal. Fossil fuels, however, take many years to form and can run out. Because these fuels are limited, people have been experiment- ing with other sources of energy. Some of these sources, like the sun, wind, and water, have always been around. Other sources are more recent discoveries. For instance, many scientists around the world have been experimenting with making fuel from corn, sugar cane, and other plants. All of these sources are considered renewable energy because the supply can be renewed or replenished. In other words, we cannot run out of sunshine, and we can easily grow more corn. These sources are, in a sense, unlimited. Though renewable energy sources are plentiful, the equipment needed to turn these sources into energy is expensive. Because it is still much cheaper to use fossil fuels, these other fuels are not as com- monly used. But scientists and inventors continue to experiment to find better, cheaper ways to use the motion God created to put our tools and inventions in motion. Just as He made our earth and every- thing in it to move, our all-knowing God also filled the earth with the energy needed to make motion possible. 13 (©2010-2015 Educational Ventre, nc Not tobe reproduced. Do not Seeing God in Math ‘The Bible says that all things were created by God, and its easy to see Him in many of these things. We see God in nature, in sclence, and in the history of our world, But one place where we often forget to look for God is in mathematics. It allows us to understand how gravity and many other principles. fh, the language of science, plain how our world works, how light travels, how objects move, Just as science and creation reveal God, mat! also reveals God. ‘One way that God is revealed through mathematics is by math’ unchanging nature. ‘Though different nations and people throughout history may have used different symbols to write out @ math problem, “| 41 = 2” has always been the math itself is the same. For example, true, Math’s consistency is what allows our world to operate orderly and precisely; it has permitted scientific laws, such as the law of gravity, to function from the days of Adam and Eve to today. God's power and His faithfulness have never changed, and He has held the world together through matical laws and concepts He created in the beginning. God has also chosen to reveal other characteristics about Himself through math. For instance, to get the right answer to a math prob- Jem, you must be careful and exact when you work it; this accuracy reflects God's perfection and wisdom. In addition, Gods infinite nature and even the Trinity can be seen in mathematics. Just as God is revealed in science or history, God's hand is also evident in math, Though we may not always think to look for Him, God shows Himself to us in numerous ways throughout every area of life. the same mathe 15 «6 2010-2015 Edwctoa! Missionary Wife in Africa After waiting two years for her parents to give their blessing, twenty-four year old Mary was finally beginning her new life. Leav- ing home and family, she sailed to South Africa to marry her love, Robert Moffat. Then, traveling 600 miles to the city of Kuruman, the two would begin serving together as missionaries. The new wife worked hard to make her mud hut a nice home. She made her own soap, butter, and bread, washed their clothes in the river, and scrubbed the floors with cow dung and water to keep the fleas away. It was a hard life for Mary and Robert. No matter how hard they worked to win the natives, there was little fruit. But Mary encouraged her husband. “We walk by faith, not by sight,” she said. In the meantime, the Lord had blessed Mary and Robert with children, The oldest was a daughter that they named Mary. The Moffats also adopted three native children whom they rescued from being buried alive. The natives were amazed at the tenderness Mary showed while caring for the children they had considered worthless. After cight years of preaching and witnessing, the Moffats were finally rewarded; souls were getting saved, and lives were being changed. The mission church, once nearly empty, was now filled with natives who had become Christians. The Moffats worked with the natives for several more years before returning to England. They had served together for 40 years. Soon after arriving back in England, Mary died. But, in addition to the souls she and her husband had seen saved, five of their children had also become missionaries, one of which was the oldest daughter Mary, who married the famous missionary, Dr, David Livingstone. 17 {©2010-2015 Educational Ventures, In.
