NETWORK MANAGEMENT
The Network Management is a set of techniques aimed at maintaining an
operational network, efficient, secure, constantly monitored and an appropriate
planning documents. .

Its objectives are:

 Improve the continuity in the operation of the network with adequate

control and monitoring, troubleshooting and provisioning of resources.
 Make efficient use of network and better utilize resources such as
bandwidth.
 Reduce costs through cost control and improved mechanisms for
recovery.

flows within it.
 Monitor changes and updates in the network so they cause the least
possible interruption in service to users.

The network management becomes more important and difficult when one
considers that existing networks include the following:

 Interconnection of several types of networks such as WAN, LAN an MAN.
 The use of multiple media such as twisted pair, coaxial cable, fiber optic,
satellite, laser, infrared and microwave.
 Various communication protocols, including TCP / IP, SPX / IPX. SNA,
OSI.
 The use of many operating systems such as DOS, Net Ware, Windows
NT, UNISA, OS / 2.
 Various network architectures, including 10 base T Ethernet, Fast

ADMINISTRACIÒN DE REDES
La administración de redes es un conjunto de técnicas ayuda a mantener una
red operativa, eficiente, segura, seguimiento constante y unos documentos de
planeamiento apropiados.

Sus objetivos son:

 Mejorar la continuidad en el funcionamiento de la red con un adecuado

control y seguimiento, detección de fallas y el aprovisionamiento de los
recursos.
 Hacer un uso eficiente de la red y utilizar mejor los recursos tales como
ancho de banda.
 Reducir los costos atreves de control de costes y mejora de los
mecanismos para la recuperación.
 Haciendo la red más segura, protegiendo contra el acceso no autorizado,
haciendo imposible a personas extrañas entender los flujos de
información dentro de ella.
 Seguir los cambios y actualizaciones en la red, de manera que causen la
interrupción en el servicio lo menos posible a los usuarios.

La administración de redes se vuelve más importante y difícil si se considera

que las redes existentes son los siguientes:

 Mezclas de varias señales tales como voz, datos. Imagen y gráficos.

 Interconexión de varios tipos de redes, tales como WAN, LAN.
 El uso de múltiples medios tales como par trenzado , cable coaxial, fibra
óptica, satélite, láser, infrarrojos y microondas
 Varios protocolos de comunicación, incluyendo TCP / IP, SPX / IPX. SNA,
OSI.
 El uso de muchos sistemas operativos tales como DOS, Net Ware,
Windows NT, UNISA, OS / 2.
