Margarita Salas nació el 30 de noviembre de 1938 en Asturias, España.

Se licenció en Ciencias Químicas y con sus descubrimientos e investigaciones ayudó a impulsar

la investigación española en el campo de la bioquímica molecular y de la biología molecular.

Ayudada por Severo Ochoa, finalizó sus estudios y se dedicó a la microbiología molecular,
siendo su descubrimiento más importante el ADN polimerasa bacteriófago π29, que hace
posible copiar el ADN y ampliarlo.

Margarita Salas was born on November 30th, 1938 in Asturias, Spain.

She graduated in Chemical Sciences and with her discoveries and research she helped to
promote Spanish research in the field of molecular biochemistry and molecular biology.

Helped by Severo Ochoa, she finished her studies and devoted herself to molecular
microbiology, her most important discovery being the bacteriophage π29 DNA polymerase,
which makes it possible to copy DNA and expand it.
