Als stolzer und glücklicher Besitzer eines Irish Terrier juckte es mich förmlich in
den Fingern, unser vierbeiniges Familienmitglied auch als Origami-Modell nach-
zubilden. Da es nach meinen Recherchen weltweit noch kein Origami Irish Terrier
gibt, musste ich ein solches Modell selbst finden. Hier ist nun das Ergebnis.
Ich widme dieses Modell dem ehrenden Andenken an den am 28.5.2006 viel zu
früh verstorbenen großen österreichischen Origamikünstler Peterpaul Forcher.
Sein vor 1990 entstandenes Modell „Reh“ hat mich zu meinem Modell angeregt
und durch seine von wunderbarer Geometrie geprägten Modelle habe ich unend-
lich viel über das Falten gelernt.

Dog Fold the bottom layer of both sides as shown.
Then, mountain-fold the design in half along the
vertical center line.

Developed in Feb 04 by Ching-Yu Hung. This is


derived from another dog model from a translated
origami book which I’m still trying to track down
original author.

Start with a 5:3 rectangular piece of paper with the


same color on both sides.

With the vertical and horizontal center lines as
guides, fold half of the paper into water bomb base.
Turn the design 90 degrees.

This dog, which was originally made from cigarette pack covers, may be built from loops cut from any cardboard, as long as it
is not too thick. I have here the instructions on how to proceed. Before you start, be aware that this is a week-end project (or more).

However, once you have finished making one, you will want to make a second.
Consist of six pages that you may print for your own use. Since I have spent many hours working on this presentation.

SITTING SCOTTIE DOG


Origin: America. Neal Elias.
Use a square of paper. Begin with a Bird Base, position 3 (Page t8). Fold to position 3 of Hiawatha
(Page i88).
t . This is the beginning. Turn the model over. The upright goes to one side.
2. Valley-fold the front flap upwards.
3. Open out as indicated. Watch the Xs. Bring top flap downwards.
4. Fold completed. Valley-fold the model in half.
5. Start forming the head with two Reverse Folds. Reverse-fold the half-hidden point
at the bottom.
6. Reverse-fold the leg in front, and repeat behind. Open out the flap inside the head
(using tweezers if necessary). The extra drawing shows how. Two Reverse Folds
are used again.
7. The head should look like this now. Turn in the nose tip, and with two Reverse
Folds form the muzzle. Mountain-fold the flap at the back of the head, and the
flap next to it. Repeat in the opposite way with the flaps behind.
8. Flaps all folded. Mountain-fold the muzzle. Reverse-fold the leg in front and repeat
with the leg behind.
9. Mountain-fold the flaps along the leg on both sides, and repeat with the leg behind.
With Mountain and Valley Folds, Crimp the body in front and behind. With a
Mountain and Valley Fold push the ear in.
10. Mountain-fold the little flap to form hind legs in front and behind. Form the tail
with Mountain and Valley Push-in Folds. Crimp the ear backwards and inwards.
11 . Valley-fold the bottom flap in front, and repeat behind.
Finally, the completed Scottie.
