1 INTRODUCCIÓN
2 OBJETIVO
El objetivo del presente documento consiste en establecer los parámetros del diseño Mecánico-Estructurales de
los estanques de 400 m3, en acero, conforme a la API 650. El estanque será construido en acero al carbono ASTM
A-36.

Se considera el peso propio techo del tanque y de los elementos estructurales de acero, con un peso específico
del acero de 7.85 [T/m3].
Se considera una sobrecarga igual a 97,65 [kgf/m2], según 5.2.1 API 650

8.4 Resultados
A continuación, se verifica las condiciones estructurales del techo, el diseño fue confeccionado con los siguientes
elementos:
• Rafters primarios: 13 de perfil C 200x75x5
• Girders superiores: 13 de perfil C 100x50x5
• Girders inferiores: 13 de perfil C 100x50x5
Para la realizar los cálculos se ha recurrido a un modelo del techo del tanque hecho en el software SAP2000. El
modelo computacional es realizado considerando las planchas de acero carbono A36 con perfiles estructurales
anteriormente descritos. Las cargas de peso propio y sobrecarga de las planchas de acero consideradas (Plancha
de acero de espesor 6 [mm]) son agregadas manualmente en el modelo. Los perfiles de soporte son modelados
como elementos del tipo “Frame”.
Tanto a áreas como a perfiles, se les asigna un material con las propiedades indicadas en el apartado 7.1.
A continuación, se muestra un esquema del modelo realizado en el software. En color negro, se muestran las
áreas modeladas; en color azul, se indican los perfiles modelados; y en color verde, se indican los puntos de
restricción de movimiento del modelo, correspondientes a apoyos articulados
A continuación, se indican el factor de utilización de los perfiles de la modelación del techo en el software.
Como se indica en la Ilustración 2, los factores de utilización de los perfiles no superan el máximo permisible (Factor
de utilización máximo = 1). Debido a esto, se acepta el diseño estructural de los perfiles del techo del tanque en
cuanto a esfuerzos.
Para las estructuras livianas de acero, el diseño de los perfiles está controlado principalmente por las
deformaciones admisibles
Por otro lado, de acuerdo con la NCh 427, se considera una deformación vertical máxima admisible de L/300,
donde L corresponde a la luz entre soportes, o a dos (2) veces la distancia en voladizo.
De la Ilustración 3, se puede notar que la deformación máxima del techo del tanque (2,02 [mm]) no supera la
deformación vertical máxima permitida por la norma. Debido a esto, se acepta el diseño estructural de los perfiles
del techo del tanque en cuanto a deformaciones.
