PREFACIO
Esta Norma Nacional Estadounidense, Norma de seguridad para teleféricos, grúas, grúas, polipastos,
ganchos, gatos y eslingas, ha sido desarrollada bajo los procedimientos acreditados por el Instituto
Nacional Estadounidense de Normas (ANSI). Esta Norma tuvo su inicio en diciembre de 1916 cuando se
presentó en la reunión anual de ASME un Código de Normas de Seguridad para Grúas de ocho páginas,
preparado por un Comité de Protección de Trabajadores Industriales de ASME.
Se llevaron a cabo reuniones y debates sobre la seguridad en grúas, cabrias y montacargas de 1920 a
1925 con la participación del Comité de Correlación del Código de Seguridad de ASME, la Asociación de
Ingenieros Eléctricos del Hierro y el Acero, el Museo Estadounidense de Seguridad, el Comité
Estadounidense de Normas de Ingeniería (AESC) [ luego cambió a American Standards Association (ASA),
luego al Instituto de Estándares de los Estados Unidos de América (USASI), y finalmente a ANSI],
Departamento de Trabajo - Estado de Nueva Jersey, Departamento de Trabajo e Industria - Estado de
Pensilvania, y el Asociación de Fabricantes de Grúas Locomotoras. El 11 de junio de 1925, AESC aprobó la
recomendación del Comité de Correlación del Código de Seguridad de ASME y autorizó el proyecto con el
El Departamento de la Marina de los EE. UU., La Oficina de Astilleros y Muelles y ASME como patrocinadores.
En marzo de 1926, se enviaron invitaciones a 50 organizaciones para nombrar representantes en
un Comité Seccional. La convocatoria para la organización de este Comité Seccional se envió el 2 de
octubre de 1926 y el comité se organizó el 4 de noviembre de 1926, con 57 miembros en
representación de 29 organizaciones nacionales. A partir del 1 de junio de 1927 y utilizando el código
de ocho páginas publicado por ASME en 1916 como base, el Comité Seccional desarrolló el Código de
seguridad para grúas, grúas y montacargas. Los primeros borradores de este código de seguridad
incluían requisitos para los gatos pero, debido a las entradas y comentarios sobre esos borradores, el
Comité Seccional decidió en 1938 hacer que los requisitos para los gatos fueran un código separado.
En enero de 1943, se publicó ASA B30.2-1943 que abordaba una multitud de tipos de equipos, y en
agosto de 1943, se publicó ASA B30.1-1943 solo para abordar conectores.

Debido a los cambios en el diseño, el avance en las técnicas y el interés general de la mano de obra y la
industria en la seguridad, el Comité Seccional, bajo el patrocinio conjunto de ASME y la Oficina de Patios y
Muelles (ahora el Comando de Ingeniería de Instalaciones Navales), se reorganizó el 31 de enero de 1962. ,
con 39 miembros que representan a 27 organizaciones nacionales. El nuevo comité cambió el formato de
ASA B30.2-1943 para que la multitud de tipos de equipos que trataba pudieran publicarse en volúmenes
separados que pudieran cubrir por completo la construcción, instalación, inspección, prueba,
mantenimiento y operación de cada tipo de equipo. que se incluyó en el alcance de ASAB30.2. Este cambio
de formato dio como resultado que la publicación inicial de B30.3, B30.5, B30.6, B30.11 y B30.16 fueran
designadas como revisiones de B30. 2 y el resto de los volúmenes B30 se publican como volúmenes
totalmente nuevos. ASA cambió su nombre a USASI en 1966 y ANSI en 1969, lo que resultó en que los
volúmenes B30 de 1943 a 1968 fueran designados como ASA B30, USAS B30 o ANSI B30, según su fecha de
publicación.
En 1982, el Comité fue reorganizado como Comité de Organización Acreditado, operando bajo procedimientos
desarrollados por ASME y acreditados por ANSI. Esta Norma presenta un conjunto coordinado de reglas que
pueden servir como una guía para el gobierno y otros organismos reguladores y autoridades municipales
responsables de la vigilancia e inspección de los equipos que caen dentro de su alcance. Las sugerencias que
conducen a la prevención de accidentes se dan como disposiciones obligatorias y de asesoramiento; los
empleadores pueden exigir el cumplimiento de ambos tipos de sus empleados.
En caso de dificultades prácticas, nuevos desarrollos o dificultades innecesarias, la autoridad
administrativa o reguladora puede otorgar variaciones de los requisitos literales o permitir el uso de otros
dispositivos o métodos, pero solo cuando sea claramente evidente que de ese modo se asegura un grado
equivalente de protección. Para asegurar la aplicación e interpretación uniformes de esta Norma, se insta a
las autoridades administrativas o reguladoras a consultar al Comité B30, de acuerdo con el formato descrito
en la Sección IX de la Introducción, antes de tomar decisiones sobre los puntos en disputa.
Los códigos y normas de seguridad están destinados a mejorar la seguridad pública. Las revisiones son el resultado de la
consideración por parte del comité de factores como los avances tecnológicos, los nuevos datos y las cambiantes necesidades
ambientales y de la industria. Las revisiones no implican que las ediciones anteriores fueran inadecuadas.

La edición de 2009 de B30.10 se reescribió por completo para mejorar la claridad de la Norma. Esta
edición de 2014 incorpora muchos cambios globales de B30, incluida la adición de la competencia del
personal y los requisitos de traducción, así como otras revisiones realizadas a lo largo del documento.

Esta edición del Volumen B30.10 fue aprobada por el Comité B30 y ASME y fue aprobada por ANSI
y designada como Norma Nacional Estadounidense el 23 de mayo de 2014.

Question: Paragraph 10-1.3(g) mentions the proper way to load duplex hooks but does not
mention anything about sling angles. Duplex hooks must be designed for a certain maximum sling
angle. How does the user know the maximum allowable sling angle? How does the hook
manufacturer know what sling angle to use for design? Conventional wisdom for this included angle
is 60 deg (maximum), but are there any standards that mention this?

Reply: ASME B30.10 does not address sling angles on hooks. The user should contact the hook
manufacturer for allowable sling angles for duplex hooks.
