 Preparing to Receive the
Lord’s Supper
ORLC practices what is known as “close communion.” We
believe that the Bible teaches that the bread and wine that
you receive in the Lord’s Supper are more than simply
symbols of strengthening your faith. Bread and wine are
actually the ways in which Jesus shares his true presence with
us. We believe that, to take communion in a worthy manner
as taught in 1 Corinthians 11:27, you must be a baptized
believer who approaches the table with a repentant heart
and acknowledges the true presence of the Lord in this
Christian ritual.
Please read through the questions below. If you are able
to assert these Biblical truths with us and the rest of the
Lutheran Church, you are more than welcome to come
forward to share in this Holy meal.
If you have any questions, please speak with an elder or a
pastor. You may always come forward simply to receive a
blessing instead.
1. Do I believe that I am a sinful human being
without hope of eternal life except for God’s
mercy in Christ?
2. Do I believe that Jesus is God’s Son and my
personal Savior?
3. Do I believe that He is personally present in the
sacrament of Holy Communion with His Body
and Blood?
4. Have I received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism
through which punishment for original sin is
washed away?
5. Do I hope by the power of the Holy Spirit to
live godly life?
The Triduum
The highlight of the liturgical year is the Triduum – from the
beginning of the service on Maundy Thursday to the end of
the service on Easter Sunday. You may notice that Thursday’s
service opens with an invocation, but you won’t hear the
benediction until Easter Sunday. Though the Triduum
(which means “3 days” in Latin) spans 3 calendar days, we
view Maundy Thursday/Good Friday/Easter Sunday as one
continued worship service. The church has been practicing
this for centuries.
We hope you are able to join us for all three parts of this
blessed ritual.

Recibir la Cena del Señor
ORLC practica lo que se conoce como “comunión cercana.”
Creemos que la Biblia enseña que el pan y el vino que recibe
en la Santa Cena son más que simples símbolos de fortalecer
su fe. El pan y el vino son en realidad las formas en que Jesús
comparte su verdadera presencia con nosotros. Creemos
que, para comulgar de manera digna como se enseña en 1
Corintios 11:27, debe usted ser un creyente bautizado que

El Triduo
El punto culminante del año litúrgico es el Triduo, desde
el comienzo del servicio el Jueves Santo hasta el final del
servicio el Domingo de Pascua. Puede notar que el servicio
del jueves se abre con una invocación, pero no escuchará
la bendición hasta el Domingo de Pascua. Aunque el Triduo
(que significa “3 días” en latín) abarca 3 días calendario,
vemos el Jueves Santo / Viernes Santo / Domingo de
Pascua como un servicio de adoración continuo. La iglesia
ha estado practicando esto durante siglos.

los discípulos le preguntaron a Jesús: —¿Dónde quieres
que vayamos a hacer los preparativos para que comas la
Pascua? 13Él envió a dos de sus discípulos con este encargo:
—Vayan a la ciudad y les saldrá al encuentro un hombre
que lleva un cántaro de agua. Síganlo, 14y allí donde entre
díganle al dueño: “El Maestro pregunta: ¿Dónde está la sala

CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION CONFESIÓN Y ABSOLUCIÓN

P This is the message we heard from Him and proclaim to
you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at

Psalm 22
1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why
are you so far from saving me, from the words of my
groaning?
2 O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by
night, but I find no rest.
3 Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.
4 In you our fathers trusted; they trusted, and you
delivered them.
5 To you they cried and were rescued; in you they trusted
and were not put to shame.
6 But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind
and despised by the people.
7 All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they
wag their heads;
8 “He trusts in the Lord; let him deliver him; let him rescue
him, for he delights in him!”
9 Yet you are he who took me from the womb; you made
me trust you at my mother’s breasts.
10 On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother’s
womb you have been my God.
11 Be not far from me, for trouble is near, and there is none
to help.
12 Many bulls encompass me; strong bulls of Bashan
surround me;
13 they open wide their mouths at me, like a ravening and
roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of
joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast;
15 my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue
sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death.
16 For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers
encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet
17 I can count all my bones—they stare and gloat over me;
18 they divide my garments among them, and for my
clothing they cast lots.

14 Como agua he sido derramado; dislocados están todos
mis huesos. Mi corazón se ha vuelto como cera, y se
derrite en mis entrañas.
15 Se ha secado mi vigor como una teja; la lengua se me
pega al paladar. ¡Me has hundido en el polvo de la

16 Como perros de presa, me han rodeado; me ha cercado
una banda de malvados; me han traspasado las manos
