Un Gerente es una figura clave dentro de una organización, empresa, institución o en nuestro caso una
operación minera. La meta principal de un gerente debe ser cumplir los objetivos que se plantearon en
un inicio, así de esta manera todo proyecto tendrá un inicio y un fin. Para esto los gerentes deben utilizar
y regular tanto los recursos materiales y humanos que posee el proyecto, y reduciendo al mínimo posible
la inversión monetaria sin reducir la calidad del producto o servicio que ofrezca la compañía.

Para esto el gerente de un proyecto debe tener las siguientes 10 cualidades:

-Buen comunicador: Para ser un gerente se debe tener una muy buena comunicación, tanto escrita
como oral. La falta de comunicación puede dar paso a mensajes distorsionados o malentendidos, esto
dando mucho paso a problemas en el proyecto y aun más si se manejan grupos grandes. Un gerente
debe ser cauto a la hora de comunicar sus ideas o en muchos casos sus ordenes con la finalidad de
cumplir los objetivos del proyecto.

-Habilidades efectivas de liderazgo: Un gerente debe ser un líder natural. Tiene que hacer frente a
equipos con diferentes ámbitos laborales. Por tanto, es imperativo para los gerentes motivar a los
empleados y ajustar el rendimiento del equipo para lograr los objetivos de la organización a través de
todas las diferentes formas de liderazgo.

-Tomador de buenas decisiones: Un gerente a lo largo de la vida de un proyecto se enfrenta a diferente
toma de decisiones de las cuales dependerá la vida, el camino y el desenlace de un proyecto. Una
decisión equivocada puede poner en peligro fácilmente todo el proyecto. Un gerente debe tener la
capacidad de pensar con rapidez y una toma determinación en su toma de decisiones.

-Tener una visión o imagen clara de las cosas: En ciertos momentos los gerentes van a estar enfrentados
a entregar resultados en un tiempo establecido con un recurso limite. A pesar de los inconvenientes o
limitaciones que se presentan en el proyecto no se debe perder la visión que debe tomar para no perder
de vista sus objetivos. Esta toma de decisiones no se debe ver nubladas por las emisiones o la pasión del
momento.

-Conocimientos técnicos: Los gerentes de proyecto tienen que ser expertos en el manejo de
herramientas técnicas y tener un profundo conocimiento en el tema del proyecto. Esto le da a un
gerente una visión de todas las cuestiones que surjan durante la etapa de implementación del proyecto.

-Bueno para formar equipos: El gerente debe ser un buen organizador y formador de equipos para la
aplicación exitosa de un proyecto. Para esto el gerente debe hacer que su equipo tenga una buena
relación de total armonía, donde todos los integrantes del equipo sean un componente y engranaje
fundamental para la realización de todos los objetivos del proyecto, dándole así una igualdad en cuanto
importancia a cada una de las personas que integra el proyecto. De igual manera el grupo debe estar en
una perfecta unión y que sepan trabajar en equipo.

-Crecer bajo presión: En el curso de todo proyecto, el equipo y sobre todo su gerente se enfrenta a
diferentes situaciones problemáticas que pueden frenar el pleno avance de un proyecto.

-Buenas habilidades de negociación: Un gerente debe tener grandes habilidades, una de estas es ser un
gran negociador, ya que se requiere esta habilidad en caso de que surjan diferencias de opinión entre los
miembros del equipo. Los gerentes al tener una buena habilidad de negociación ayudan a reducir el
conflicto y evitar que se perturbe la armonía del equipo.

-Empático: El gerente de un proyecto debe ser empático ya que este rasgo le ayuda a ganar apoyo tanto
del equipo que eligió como a nuevos miembros que se unirán al proyecto como nuevos inversionistas. El
gerente al ser una persona empática debe entender y cuidar a las personas que forman parte del equipo

-Entusiasta: El gerente de un proyecto debe estar entusiasmado con este mismo. El entusiasmo es
contagioso y si el gerente es entusiasta esta cualidad se propagará por el diferente talento humano del
equipo.

A Manager is a key figure within an organization, company, institution or in our case a mining operation.
The main goal of a manager should be to meet the objectives that were set at the beginning, so in this
way every project will have a beginning and an end. For this, managers must use and regulate both the
material and human resources that the project possesses, and minimize monetary investment without
reducing the quality of the product or service offered by the company.

Good communicator: To be a manager you must have a very good communication, both written and
oral. The lack of communication can give way to distorted or misunderstood messages, this giving way to
problems in the project and even more if large groups are managed. A manager must be cautious when
communicating his ideas or in many cases his orders in order to fulfill the objectives of the project.

Effective leadership skills: A manager must be a natural leader. It has to deal with teams with different
work areas. Therefore, it is imperative for managers to motivate employees and adjust team
performance to achieve the objectives of the organization through all different forms of leadership.

Good decision maker: A manager throughout the life of a project faces different decision making on
which the life, path and outcome of a project will depend. A wrong decision can easily endanger the
entire project. A manager must have the ability to think quickly and make determination in his decision
making.

Have a clear vision or image of things: At certain times managers will be faced with delivering results in
a set time with a limited resource. In spite of the inconveniences or limitations that are presented in the
project, you should not lose the vision that you should take so as not to lose sight of your objectives. This
decision making should not be clouded by emissions or the passion of the moment.

Technical knowledge: Project managers have to be experts in the management of technical tools and
have a deep knowledge in the subject of the project. This gives a manager a vision of all issues that arise
during the project implementation stage.

Good for team building: The manager must be a good team organizer and trainer for the successful
application of a project. For this, the manager must make his team have a good relationship of total
harmony, where all the members of the team are a fundamental component and gear for the
accomplishment of all the objectives of the project, thus giving an equality in terms of importance to
each of the people who integrate the project. In the same way, the group must be in perfect union and
know how to work as a team.

Growing under pressure: In the course of any project, the team and especially its manager faces
different problematic situations that can slow the full progress of a project.

Good negotiation skills: A manager must have great skills, one of these is to be a great negotiator, since
this skill is required in case of differences of opinion between team members. Managers by having a
good negotiation skill help reduce conflict and prevent disruption of team harmony.

Empathic: The project manager must be empathetic as this feature helps him gain support from both the
team he chose and new members who will join the project as new investors. The manager being an
empathetic person must understand and care for the people who are part of the team

Enthusiast: The project manager must be excited about it. Enthusiasm is contagious and if the manager
is enthusiastic, this quality will spread through the different human talent of the team.
