1. Imperfect is used to talk about events in which the start and end times do not matter
2. One uses preterite and imperfect together when one action is interrupted by another. The initial action that gets
interrupted is conjugated in imperfect, the interrupting action is conjugated in preterite.
3. If two events occur simultaneously, or overlap, then both verbs are conjugated in imperfect.
4. If the initial action ends before the final action begins (meaning they occur at different times) both verbs are
conjugated in preterite.
2. In phrases with two verbs, the object pronoun can appear after infinitive or before conjugated verb.
Por ejemplo: Instead of saying “People eat well in Spain.” One says
Mancharse—to stain
Romperse—to break
Se is used because nobody intentionally did it. Me is used to indicate the object of the sentence. We conjugate in the
first person because it is “I” who falls.
