The role of nutrition is to transform food into simple subtances, called
nutritients, and get energy from them.

Interaction is the ability to sense changes in the environment and inside
the body and respond to them.

Reproduction enables living things to produce offspring that are similar
to them.

Learn how to use a microscope.
Step 1. Switch on the light. Take a clean slide and put a few drops of
water oni t.
Step 2. Put some paper ower the wáter. This is your sample. Place the
slide on the stage.
Step 3. Turn the objective lens until the low power lens is ower the
slide.
Step 4. Look through the eyepiece and turn the focusing knob until the
image of the paper is in focus.
Step 5. Describe what you can see. Is paper a living thing? Why or why
not?

Paso 1. Encienda la luz. Tome un portaobjetos limpio y aplique unas
gotas de agua.
Paso 2. Pon un poco de papel sobre el agua. Esta es tu muestra. Coloque
el portaobjetos en el escenario.
Paso 3. Gire la lente del objetivo hasta que la lente de baja potencia
quede sobre la diapositiva.
Paso 4. Mire a través del ocular y gire la perilla de enfoque hasta que la
imagen del papel esté enfocada.
Paso 5. Describe lo que puedes ver. ¿Es el papel un ser vivo? ¿Por qué o
por qué no?
All living things are made of cells. All cell is the smallest unit of life. It is
a living thing because it performs the three vital funtions: nutrition,
interaction and reproduction.
Todos los seres vivos están hechos de células. Toda célula es la unidad
más pequeña de la vida. Es algo vivo porque realiza las tres funciones
vitales: nutrición, interacción y reproducción.
