ADJETIVOS DE FISICA

ALTO-A (tall) /ahl-toh/ - Used to describe someone who is above average height. (Se usa para
describir a alguien que está por encima de la altura promedio.)

e.g. Es un hombre alto con hombros amplios.

(He’s tall man with broad shoulders.)

ÀSPERO-A (rough;uneven) /ahs-peh-roh/ - Having uneven or irregular surface. (Tener una superficie
irregular o irregular.)

e.g. El papel higiénico de esa marca es muy áspero; este otro es más suave.
(That brand of toilet paper is too rough; this other one is softer.)

ATRACTIVO-A (attractive;good-looking) /ah-trahk-tee-boh/ - A person who is good looking. (Una

BELLO-A (beautiful;lovely) /beh-yoh/ - Pleasing the senses or mind aesthetically. (Complacer los
sentidos o la mente estéticamente.)

(They live in the most beautiful home in the neighborhood.)

BONITO-A (pretty;handsome) /boh-nee-toh/ - A person who is extremely good looking (mainly used
to describe women). (Una persona que es extremadamente atractiva (se usa principalmente para
describir a las mujeres).

e.g. Mira a esa niña bonita con su madre.

(Look at that pretty girl with her mother.)
BLANDO-A (soft) / blahn-doh/ - Not hard or firm to touch. (No es difícil ni firme al tacto.)

e.g. Las camas del hotel eran sorprendentemente blandas.

(The hotel beds were surprisingly soft.)

BLANCO-A (white;fair) /blahn-koh/ - Having light-colored skin. (Tener piel clara.)

e.g. Nunca sale sin protector solar porque es muy blanca.

(She never goes out without sun protection because she is very fair.)

CALVO-A (bald;hairless) /kahl-boh/ - Having a scalp wholly or partly lacking hair. (Tener un cuero
cabelludo que carece total o parcialmente de cabello.)

e.g. La verdad es que es calvo, pero lleva un peluqùin.

(The truth is that he’s bald, but wears a toupee.)

CASTAÑO-A (brown;chestnut) /kahs-tah-nyoh/ -(1) Any of a group of colors between red and yellow
in hue, of medium to low lightness, and of moderate to low saturation. (2) A brown-skinned person. ( (1)
Cualquiera de un grupo de colores entre el rojo y el amarillo en tonalidad, de luminosidad media a baja y

CORTO-A (short;brief) /kohr-toh/ - Measuring a small distance from end to end. (Medición de una

CORPULENTO-A (solid;hefty) /kohr-poo-lehn-toh/ - Having a large bulky body. (Tener un cuerpo

grande y voluminoso.)

e.g. En ese árbol corpulento de ahí, se suben los niños a jugar.

(That solid tree there is where children climb up to play.)

CANIJO-A (tiny;sickly;small) /kah-nee-hoh/ - In poor health. (Mal de salud.)

e.g. La anciana canija no podía levantarse de la cama sin ayuda.

(The sickly old lady couldn't leave her bed on her own.)
CHUECO-A (bent;crooked) /chweh-koh/ - Bent or twisted out of shape or out of place. (Doblado o
torcido fuera de forma o fuera de lugar.)

e.g. La lámpara de piso se ve chueca. ¿Puedes enderezarla con las manos?

(The foot lamp looks crooked. Can you straighten it with your hands?)

DELGADO-A (thin) /dehl-gah-doh/ - Make or become less dense. (Hacer o volverse menos denso.)

e.g. Estás muy delgado, Paco. ¡Come más de la sopa que te preparé!
(You're so thin, Paco. Have more of the soup I made you!)

DÈBIL (weak) /deh-beel/ - Lacking physical strength and energy. (Falta de fuerza física y energía.)

e.g. Cuando salió del hospital todavía se encontraba muy débil.

(He was still feeling very weak when he left hospital.)

DEPORTIVO-A (sporty;casual) /deh-pohr-tee-boh/ - Flashy or showy in dress or behavior. (Llamativo o

vistoso en su vestimenta o comportamiento.)

e.g. Lo siento, pero no puede llevar ropa deportiva a la boda.

(I'm sorry, but you can't wear casual clothing to the wedding.)

DESALIÑADO-A (slovenly;scruffy;untidy) / dehs-ah-lee-nyah-doh/ - Untidy especially in personal

appearance. (Desordenado especialmente en apariencia personal.)

e.g. No puedes presentarte a la entrevista con ese aspecto desaliñado.

(You can't go to the interview looking that slovenly.)

ENFERMO-A (sick;ill;unwell) / ehm-fehr-moh/ - Affected with disease or ill health. (Afectado con
enfermedad o mala salud.)

e.g. Luis se fue a su casa porque está enfermo.

(Luis went home because he's ill.)

FLACO-A (very thin;skinny) /flah-koh/ - Lacking sufficient flesh. (Falta de carne suficiente.)

e.g. Está muy flaco después de un mes fuera de casa.

(He is very skinny after a month away from home.)
FUERTE (strong;sturdy) /fwehr-teh/ - Having or marked by great physical power. (Tener o marcado
por un gran poder físico.)

e.g. Está muy fuerte desde que empezó a levantar pesas.

(She is very strong since she started lifting weights.)

FEO-A (ugly;unflattering) /feh-oh/ - Offensive or unpleasant to any sense. (Ofensivo o desagradable

en cualquier sentido.)

e.g. El monstruo que dibujaste tiene una nariz muy fea.

(That monster you drew has a very ugly nose.)

FABULUSO-A (fabulous;fantastic) /fah-boo-loh-soh/ - Of an incredible, astonishing, or exaggerated

nature. (De una naturaleza increíble, asombrosa o exagerada.)

e.g. Tuvimos unas vacaciones fabulosas en un lugar de ensueño.

(We had a fabulous vacation at a fairy tale location.)

FLOJO-A (loose;slack) /floh-hoh/ - Not tight-fitting. Having worked partly free from attachments. (No
ajustado. Habiendo trabajado parcialmente libre de apegos.)

e.g. Esa camisa está demasiado floja. Prefiero el corte ajustado.

(That shirt is too loose. I prefer the slim fit.)

GRANDE (big;large) /grahn-deh/ - Large or great in dimensions, bulk, or extent. Large or great in
quantity, number, or amount. (Grandes o grandes en dimensiones, volumen o extensión. Grande o
grande en cantidad, número o cantidad.)

e.g. Vengo de una familia grande con muchos hermanos y primos.

(I come from a big family with many siblings and cousins.)

GUAPO-A (handsome;beautiful;good-looking) /gwah-poh/ - Having a pleasing and usually impressive

or dignified appearance. (Tener una apariencia agradable y generalmente impresionante o digna.)

(My husband is incredibly handsome.)

GORDO-A (fat;overweight;heavy) /gohr-doh/ - Notable for having an unusual amount of fat. (Destaca

(That cat is so fat it can't jump onto the couch.)
GORDITO-A (chubby;plump) /gohr-dee-toh/ - Having a full rounded usually pleasing form. (Tener una
forma completa generalmente redondeada agradable.)

e.g. Carlitos es un niño muy lindo; tiene una cara gordita y está siempre sonriente.
(Carlitos is a lovely child; he has a chubby face and is always smiling.)

INMENSO-A (immense;vast;enormous;great) /een-mehn-soh/ - Marked by greatness especially in

size or degree. (Marcado por la grandeza especialmente en tamaño o grado.)

e.g. El dueño del casino amasó una inmensa fortuna.

(The owner of the casino amassed an immense fortune.)

INTELIGENTE (intelligent;smart;clever) /een-teh-lee-hehn-teh/ - Having or indicating a high or

satisfactory degree of intelligence and mental capacity. (Tener o indicar un alto o satisfactorio grado de
inteligencia y capacidad mental.)

e.g. Se dice que los delfines son los animales más inteligentes.
(It is said that dolphins are the most intelligent animals.)
