No one knows sledding better than USA Olympic Medalist and World Luge Champion Chris
Thorpe. I went sledding with Chris in Colorado to see what he thought...

you master this sled on your first day out. You can go from carving to slipping and drifting
the turns to just stopping on a dime. The performance and control factor are, I think, second

He rode the Scion over two days at Purgatory, Durango Mountain Resort in Colorado. Thank

DAWN OF A SLEDDING REVOLUTION

My name is Sean Boyd, sled designer and sled pilot. I build and develop radical new snow
sleds. I have always enjoyed old school sledding, but felt there was potential to make it a lot
more exciting.
I designed my first sled in my garage in 2006. It was constructed using chopped up skis, a
bike frame and other bits and pieces I had laying around. It wasn’t pretty but it had
potential. Over the next four years, while working full-time on my day job, I developed five
more prototypes, went really fast and crashed a lot!

Early designs featured a cable controlled braking system, which worked really well.
However, the sled handling was so good I soon discovered it was possible to perform
effective hockey stops (turn stopping) therefore eliminating the need for a braking system
at all. As well as creating a more dynamic riding experience it also reduced a lot of
unnecessary weight and cost.
In 2010 I contracted Will Grant from 4Design to take my research to the next level. As a
former McLaren F1 race car designer he brought the expertise I needed. Working with Will, I
now had the ability to get my designs to fabrication.

With the results from six prototypes,

Guardar the first all carbon fiber sled was constructed in 2011.
The prototype results were so outstanding I realised I could offer the world a totally new
kind of sledding.
Snolo’s debut sled, the Stealth-X was launched to the world market in December 2012 to
great acclaim. It was featured in hundreds of websites around the world and has been
shipped to customers from all corners of the globe. The high cost of materials for the
Stealth-X meant it was only accessible to a few. As a result I received hundreds of emails
from fans of the Stealth-X asking me to develop a more affordable high performance sled. I
listened and began developing the Scion. Working with plastics industry experts I eventually
found a high quality, tough, light weight and affordable solution.

or similar.
Adjustable front ski for modification of handling characteristics.
Every Scion comes with a shock coil lanyard for safety and effortless towing back up the

The Scion has been tested in the factory and on the slopes to ensure it is a durable, quality
product that I can stake my reputation on. However everyone knows that the unforeseeable
can happen from time to time - such as political unrest or a shipment being lost overboard.
If anything should happen that would delay or alter any aspect we will advise all our backers
immediately and act to rectify the situation with professionalism and the attention you
deserve. The team involved in this project have the proven experience and expertise to
produce and deliver everything promised. My team and I can also problem solve any other
issues that may unexpectedly arise.
