INSTRUCTOR: Lets continue learning how to indicate that an action or outcome was
involuntary or even accidental using se, with an indirect object pronoun and a verb. As se dice

INSTRUCTOR: Cmo se dice I lost THE KEY.
INSTRUCTOR: Implying that it was by accident, cmo se dice I broke the glass.

INSTRUCTOR: As se dice display window as in the stores display window. Eschucha y

INSTRUCTOR: You may also hear some Spanish speakers use the word vidriera for the
English phrase display window. But in this lesson, we will use the word vitrina. Otra vez,

INSTRUCTOR: You may also hear some Spanish speakers use the verb regar instead of
derramar. But in this lesson we will not use the Spanish verb regar. We will use the verb

INSTRUCTOR: We will now learn how to describe something that ALMOST happened in the
past. In English, you use the preterit tense to describe an event that "almost" happened in the
past. For example, in English you would say I almost fell. But in Spanish, you MUST use the
present tense when talking about an event that "almost" happened in the past. As se dice el
INSTRUCTOR: Did you notice that you just learned the verb to fall in its reflexive form?
INSTRUCTOR: Did you notice that we use the present tense in Spanish to describe something
that almost happened in the past? De nuevo cmo se dice I almost fell.

INSTRUCTOR: Instead of the word casi you may hear some Spanish speakers use the phrase
"por poco" for the English word "almost." Por ejemplo, por poco me caigo. But in this lesson, we
will use the Spanish word casi. Recuerdas cmo se dice floor as in to fall to the floor.
Juan: Casi te caes al piso. Caes. Te caes. Casi te caes. Casi te caes al piso.
INSTRUCTOR: Although in English you would probably say You almost fell on the floor, a
Spanish speaker would say You almost fell TO the floor or Casi te caes al piso. Hablando
Diana: Usted casi se cae al piso. Cae. Se cae. Casi se cae al piso.
INSTRUCTOR: Otra vez, hablando con un seor cmo se dice you almost fell to the floor.
Diana: Nosotros casi nos caemos. Caemos. Nos caemos. Casi nos caemos.
INSTRUCTOR: Otra vez cmo se dice they almost fell to the floor.

INSTRUCTOR: Did you notice that you just learned the verb to slip in its reflexive form?

Ten cuidado con ese piso resbaladizo, te puedes resbalar y caer means be careful with that
slippery floor you can slip and fall. Piso resbaladizo means slippery floor. Este es el final
