WASTE MANAGEMENT
For waste management, the first priority is the prevention or reduction of pollutants in
aquatic systems. The reuse of recycled compounds for pharmaceutical production is
limited due to compliance with GMP - Figure 1.
An exception
is the production
of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) which can be recovered and reused
solvents, filters, etc. A good example for recycling / reuse waste X-ray production
Contract Media (CM) is incineration of iodine solutions and extraction as iodide
solution by washing waste gases, which can be sold in the world marked.
There are two basic conditions that must be considered in order to find an effective
and economical solution:
For solid pharmaceutical products (for example production of tablets), the source of
waste water is discharged only processes rinsing and cleaning; This amount of waste
water is relatively small compared to liquid pharmaceuticals, for example, the
production of X-ray CM where waste is solvents and processes flushing and cleaning
are downloaded. Two API wastewater final pharmaceutical manufacturing process is
discussed in detail:
Below the No Observable Effect Concentration (NOEC) in line with the initiative
Management System Responsible Care (RCMS).
Device for treating composite large plastic disks placed close to rotate taking a
horizontal axis wastewater. The disks are moved alternately in the waste water and
air and develop biological growth on their surfaces
When the process starts operation, the influent wastewater microorganisms adhere to
the surface of the plastic material and develop until the entire area is covered with a
layer or a microbial film.
Rotating disks, biological film adheres to these contacting, alternately with the waste
water that is in the pond and the atmospheric oxygen. On leaving the water tank, the
discs drag a liquid layer on the surface of the biofilm, allowing water oxygenation and
microorganisms. Due to the succession of dips and emersions the liquid layer is
constantly renewed.
The detached micro-organisms are maintained in suspension in the liquid, exit the tank
with the treated water are directed to the settling tank, where they are separated from
it.
ADVANTAGES OF TREATMENT
easy operation
Low cost in energy consumption
The plant requires little maintenance
It is a membrane process has been developed for concentrating the iodine containing
wash water to reduce costs of incineration as energy consumption for water
evaporation is very expensive.
The investment costs for the membrane process are in the range of UV
oxidation process; due to the high demand for pressure by the membrane
process, there is only one reduced energy savings compared to the UV
oxidation process.
The RBC process has the lowest operating costs for treating wastewater from
the pharmaceutical industry level, as it has reduced demand for maintenance
and lower energy consumption of the three processes.
