So, identify inventory items based on percentage of total dollar value, where
A items are roughly top 15 %, B items as next 35 %, and the lower 65%
are the C items

d = average daily demand (constant)
L = Lead time (constant)
Given the information below, what are the EOQ and reorder point?
_
R eorder point, R = d L = 2.74units / day (7days) = 19.18 or 20 units
20,000 units/year
d= = 54.79 or 55 units/day
365 days/year
_
R = d L = 55 units/day (15 days) = 825 units
Place an order for 299 units. When in the course of using the
inventory you are left with only 825 units, place the next order of 299
units.
Items purchased from a vendor cost $20 each, and the forecast
for next years demand is 1,000 units. If it costs $5 every time an
order is placed for more units and the storage cost is $4 per unit
per year, what quantity should be ordered each time?

TC = DC + S+ iC
Q 2
TC(0-2499)=(10000*1.20)+(10000/1826)*4+(1826/2)(0.02*1.20)
= $12,043.82
TC(2500-3999)= $10,041
TC(4000&more)= $9,949.20
Finally, we select the least costly Qopt, which is this problem occurs in the
4000 & more interval. In summary, our optimal order quantity is 4000 units
Example 2:
To determine the optimal quantity of any item to order, we simply solve for the
economic order quantity for each price and at the point of price change.

Feasible
Q(4.50) = 667
Q(5.00) = 633 X Not feasible
Solution
We will calculate Total Cost for Q=667 and for the break price:
10.000*4.50 + (10,000/667)*20 +
TC(667) = (667/2)(0.20)(4.50) = 45,600
10.000*3.90 + (10,000/1,000)*20 +
TC(1,000) = (1,000/2)(0.20)(3.90) = 39,590
