GEOGRAPHY

The city of Las Vegas occupies an area of 295 km2. Being located in the desert, most of the
terrain is rocky and dusty.

La ciudad de Las Vegas ocupa un rea de 295 km2. Al estar situada en el desierto, la mayor
parte del terreno es rocoso y polvoriento.

HISTORY

The city was discovered by Antonio Armijo in 1829 that denominated Las Vegas. The city was
conquered by the English in 1855 that belonged to the Mexicans. With the legalization of the
game in 1931 begins the expansion of Las Vegas. In 1941 they began to build large hotels with
gambling casinos. The first were "El Rancho Las Vegas" and "The Last Frontier".

La ciudad fue descubierta por Antonio Armijo in 1829 que denomin Las Vegas. La ciudad fue
conquistada por los ingleses en 1855 que perteneci a los mexicanos. Con la legalizacin del
juego en 1931 comienza la expansin de Las Vegas. En 1941 comenzaron a construir grandes
hoteles con casinos de juego. Los primeros fueron "El Rancho Las Vegas" y "The Last Frontier".

WEATHER

Las Vegas has a desert climate with very little rain and extremely warm in summer.
Temperatures above 40 C are common between May and September. The winters are cold
and windy, with temperatures between 3 C and 14 C

Las Vegas tiene un clima desrtico con muy poca lluvia y extremadamente clido en verano.
Temperaturas superiores a 40 C son habituales entre los meses de mayo a septiembre. Los
inviernos son fros y ventosos, con temperaturas que oscilan entre los 3 C y los 14 C.

affecting the health of people living there

El nivel de contaminacin en Las Vegas es muy alta debido al alto volumen de desplazamientos
en coche creando problemas de salud que afectan a las personas que viven all.
ECONOMY

The most outstanding economy in Las Vegas is tourism. More than 30 million tourists visit each
year in search of becoming millionaires in the casinos and visiting the many attractions of the
city.

La economia mas destacada en Las Vegas es el turismo. Mas de 30 millones de turistas visitan
cada ao en busca de hacerse millonarios en los casinos y visitando los numerosos lugares de
inters de la ciudad.
