We were in a TV programme last year on channel 45. We participated with ten other bands and

When we were kids we always listened to rock and roll because our parents liked that style of
music. They loved Elvis Presley, the father of rock and roll. They also liked rock and, of course,
the Beatles.

Long time ago, there was a Pamplona bishop, Saint Fermn. He travelled far converting

E verything began on July 10th. During my
last winter holidays, my family and I rented
a cabin in Cajn del Maipo. The cabin was

One night, my cousins, Jorge and Luis, and I

That Thrusday, at about 2 in the morning I heard a loud cry that made me jump. We were
shaking. My cousins also woke up with the cry. We were scared to death, so we stayed in the
tent but we didnt sleep. The cries continued during the rest of the night. It rained all day. We
didnt know what to do, go back to the cabin or stay. We stayed.

The next morning, we went to the house and while we were having breakfast, my dad asked, Did

HOLIDAYS

by Norah Smith

I remember that day clearly. I was 7 years old and this was my first trip to the
mountains with my mum.
When we got there, I saw some kids sliding down on big black rubbish bags. I wanted
to do the same but my mum said I was too young. So I cried and I screamed. She had
two options: hear me scream all day or let me slide down the slope. Finally, she said yes.
I started sliding and when I was halfway down the slope, some bushes got in the way
and I landed right in the middle of them.
I twisted my ankle and we had to go to a hospital right away. It hurt so much that I
cried and screamed all the way back. My mum was not very happy.

A forest fire started near Quintay yesterday afternoon at three o'clock. The dark smoke started
moving towards Valparaso yesterday evening. And today, the smoke got to the city. People are
scared. They are suffering from headaches. The fire destroyed around 1500 hectares of forest. But

The fire continues
The fire got to Valparaso. It destroyed at least 25 houses. Only some people had time to take their
things from their homes. According to one of the victims, the smoke was everywhere. The fire
also destroyed around 3,800 square kilometers of forest. There were many policemen and
firefighters on the scene. But the situation was very difficult. The place was very dangerous, too.

CITIES

Enig matic Cit y

M achu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas in Peru,

was built in the mid 15th century. But it was not
discovered until 1911 by an American explorer,
Hiram Bingham. It is hard to imagine how the
Incas built these ruins so long ago. They built
them in the middle of the jungle. Its architecture
is complex and the religious buildings are almost
perfect. Part of the fascination of Machu Picchu
is that the information about its history is not
clear. People from all over the world come to rainy season is from November to March and the
visit it year after year. The weather is generally dry season from April to October. No matter
mild. The average temperature during the day is when you go, take a tour or a guide. Dont go
13C. But there are two distinct seasons the out alone. The chance of getting lost is very high.
