SIMPLE PRESENT

1. Existen dos formas de presente simple en ingls una con el verbo Be y otra con
verbos distintos. Revise las tablas que se muestran a continuacin.

Simple present verb be

affirmative negative question

I I am. I am not. Am I?

he/she/it He is. He is not. Is he?

Simple present other verbs

affirmative negative question

I/you/we/they I play. I do not play. Do I play?

he/she/it He plays. He does not play. Does he play?

2. Aspectos a tener en cuenta para ambas formas de presente

simple.

Verb be

A. Cuando se trabaja con el presente simple usando el verbo

Be no se usan auxiliares.

B. Revise los ejemplos: I am not a doctor ------- Are you a

doctor?
C. Se usa el presente simple con el verbo Be para dar
informacin personal y relacionada con otras personas
como: nombres, apellidos, nmero de telfono, direccin,
lugar de origen y dems.

Other verbs

A. Cuando trabajamos el presente simple con otros verbos lo

hacemos para expresar acciones o actividades que pueden
pertenecer a una rutina diaria.

B. Para negar y preguntar con este tipo de verbos se usan los

auxiliares Do y Does.

C. Revise los siguientes ejemplos: She does not live here -----
Does she live here?

D. Ejemplos de verbos: eat do write cook talk wake up

get up

Use the auxiliaries do and does for negations and

questions in the simple present tense.

Note: when you use do or does in a sentence the

Daily Activities at Home

What are some of the daily activities that you do at home?

I wake up at 7am every morning.

I press the snooze button five times every morning before I turn off
the alarm and get up.
I have a cup of coffee and make breakfast. I usually read the
newspaper while I have breakfast. My children like to have a
shower after they have breakfast but I like to have a shower before I get
dressed.
My wife brushes her long hair, and I have short hair so I comb my hair.
How do you do your hair in the morning?
It is important to brush your teeth, and some women like to put make-
up on.

SIMPLE PRESENT

After I have finished work, I go home to cook dinner. In my house I

usually make dinner. The family eats dinner together at 7:30pm.
After dinner I make sure that my children do their homework, and then
I chill out on the sofa and watch television.
On television I usually watch the News. My wife usually comes to tell me
to take the rubbish out, or wash the dishes.
Our children feed the dog and the cat before they go to bed and I tell
them to go to the bathroom too.
If I am sick I have to take my medication, but then I get into my
pyjamas and set the alarm so I wake up in the morning.
The last things I do is lock the door, turn off the lights, and go to bed.
