El Rastro de Madrid: Guión

- ¡Hola a todos, bienvenidos!

Yo soy Imma.
- Y yo María, y hoy visitamos el Rastro de Madrid.
- Hi everyone! Welcome!
I’m Imma.
-And I’m María, and today we are going to visit the “Rastro” of Madrid.

- El Rastro se realiza todos los domingos por la mañana en el barrio de Embajadores.

- The “Rastro” takes place every Sunday morning in the neighborhood of Embajadores.

- Los orígenes se remontan al siglo XV, cuando en la zona se instalan los "ropavejeros" que se
dedicaban a vender ropa vieja y usada.

- The origins go back to the 15 century when the “ropavejeros”, who were selling old and used clothes,
were settled in the area.

- Más tarde se abrieron mataderos y se instalaron curtidores de piel. El arrastre de las reses y la
inclinación de las calles dio el nombre al mercadillo por el rastro de sangre que corría calle abajo.
-Later slaughterhouses were opened and tanneries were settled down. The dragging of the animals and
the inclination of the streets gave the name to the market because of the blood trail which was running
down the street.

-Hay una leyenda que dice que en realidad el nombre del Rastro viene del rastro de sangre que
dejaban los condenados a muerte por el "garrote vil".
- There is a legend that says that in fact the name of “Rastro” comes from the blood trail left by those
sentenced to death by “garrote vil”

- Aquí se venden revistas, cromos, estampas... muchas son antiguas y podéis encontrar muchos
coleccionistas intercambiándolas.
- Magazines, stickers, illustrations are sold in here…many of them are old and you can find a lot of
collectors swapping them.

- Ésta es conocida como "la calle de los pintores", se venden óleos y material de pintura.
- This one is known as “the painters street”, oil paintings and painting materials are sold in here.

- Esta calle es conocida como "la calle de los pájaros" porque antiguamente se vendían aves. Ahora
como está prohibido, se venden artículos de animales.
- This street is known as “the bird street” because in the past birds were sold in here. Now because it’s
prohibited, animal products are sold.

-Aquí puedes encontrar muchas cosas que no encuentras en tiendas normales, como objetos antiguos
o chatarra.
- You can find a lot of things that you don’t find at normal stores, like ancient objects or scrap.
