Modelo Matemtico
Las propiedades intensivas son aquellas que no dependen de la
cantidad de sustancia del sistema, por este motivo no son
aditivas. En otras palabras no dependen de la masa.
Ejemplos: temperatura, velocidad, volumen especfico (vol./
masa), punto de ebullicin, punto de fusin, densidad, magnitud
escalar o vectorial.
Las propiedades extensivas si dependen de la cantidad de
sustancias del sistema y son recprocamente equivalentes a las
intensivas.
Ejemplos: masa, cantidad de movimiento.
La naturaleza escalar y vectorial es compartida por ambas
propiedades.

En general no existe solucin analtica del modelo matemtico.
Se usan mtodos numricos para aproximar las soluciones bajo
diferentes circunstancias.

Mtodos de prediccin
Algunos mtodos clsicos para predecir el comportamiento de
yacimientos petroleros son:
Anlogos : utilizan las caractersticas de yacimientos maduros
que son anlogos al yacimiento objetivo, y con esta
informacin intentan predecir el desempeo del
mismo.
Experimentales : miden las propiedades fsicas (presin,
saturacin, flujos de inyeccin, etc.) en ncleos de
roca, y luego se extrapolan a todo el yacimiento.
Matemticos : usan modelos matemticos y su solucin en
computadora por medio de mtodos numricos, para
predecir el comportamiento del yacimiento.
