MISIN DEL DEPARTAMENTO DE EDUCACIN ESPECIAL

La visin del Departamento de Educacin Especial de Amigos Por Vida es, que todos los
estudiantes pueden aprender, si se identifican sus necesidades, a travs de un programa
individualizado, en una escuela que reconoce y respeta sus discapacidades.

Nuestra misin es trabajar cooperativamente con los estudiantes, padres, comunidad y colegas para
proveer un ambiente seguro y promover su xito en la medida que se preparan para el futuro.
Estamos muy complacidos porque este ao el departamento de Educacin especial cuenta con la
maestra de Educacin Especial Camila Jones M.Ed., MAT, DEA y con la maestra asistente Lola
Raimova.

ARD (Reunin de Admisin, Revisin y Despido)
Su hijo/a tendr una revisin anual de ARD de acuerdo a la fecha de su ultima reunin.
Si su evaluacin esta por cumplir tres anos de realizada se har una re-evaluacin para determinar
su progreso. Como miembro del comit de ARD usted puede solicitar una junta de ARD si
considera que es necesaria por el rendimiento o progreso de su hijo.

REPORTES DE PROGRESO
Junto al reporte del progreso que envia la escuela, usted recibir un reporte del progreso del IEP
(Plan de Educacin Individual) de su hijo.

POLTICA DE EVALUACIN
Tareas: Las tareas sern asignadas por los maestros diariamente. Si el estudiante no entrega 3
tareas se deber quedar despus de la escuela hasta completarlas en un da asignado por el maestro.
Se le enviar una notificacin escrita por adelantado. El tiempo de tareas asignado ser el
siguiente de acuerdo al grado:

Kinder 15-20 min 2do 30-35 min 4to 40-45 min 7/8

50-60 min
1ro 20-25 min 3ro 35-40 min 5/6

45-60 min
Los estudiantes sern evaluados en las siguientes proporciones:
Examenes: 40% Trabajo en clase 30% Tareas en casa 20% Habitos de trabajo 10%
Adems, si su estudiante esta recibiendo currculo modificado, sera evaluado en base a la rubric
anexa.

SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT
The vision of the Special Education Program at Amigos Por Vida is that all students can achieve by
identifying and meeting their needs through individualized educational programming in a school
that acknowledges and respects their disabilities. It is our mission to work cooperatively with
students, parents, community and colleagues to provide a safe environment and to promote their
success as they prepare for future endeavors.
The Special Education Department is pleased to welcome Bilingual Special Education Teacher
Camila Jones M.Ed., MAT, D.E.A., working with Bilingual Teacher Assistant Lola Raimova.

ARD (Admission, Review and Dismissal)
Your child will have an annual review of progress based on his or her last annual review (ARD). If
his other assessment was done close to three years ago, they are due for a re-evaluation to
determine their progress and eligibility. As an active member of the ARD committee, you can
request an ARD meeting if you consider it necessary for the progress of your student. To address
this matter, you will need to send a written request to Ms. Jones.

PROGRESS REPORTS
You will receive an IEP (Individual Educational Plan) progress report with each report card sent by
the school.

ASSESSMENT POLICY

Homework: Homework will be assigned by teachers daily. If your child does not turn in 3
homework s/he will need to stay after school to complete them on a date assigned by the teacher.
There will be a written notification sent in advance for you to pick up. The time assigned to
homework will be determined by the grade level:

The grading will be based on the following proportion scale:
Tests: 40% Classwork 30% Homework 20% Work Habits: 10%
If your student is receiving a modified assessment, he/she will be assessed following the attached
rubric.
