A little history
The district was created in LUNAHUANA time of independence as "La Villa de Lunahuana" by Supreme Decree of August 4, 1821, by General Jos de San Martn. Its capital LUNAHUANA was declared in 1994 tourist and cultural capital of the province of Caete by President Alberto Fujimori.

Su capital, Lunahuan, fue declarada en 1994 capital turstica y cultural de la provincia de Caete por el entonces presidente Alberto Fujimori.
