operating system.
Hardware Settings: The BIOS also configures hardware settings such as processor
speed, RAM, and input/output ports.
Booting the operating system: The BIOS finds the boot device (usually the hard
drive) and loads the operating system into RAM so it can run.
Security settings: The BIOS can also configure passwords and other security
settings to protect the computer from unauthorized access.
As technology has evolved, the BIOS has been gradually replaced by the UEFI
(Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), which provides a more advanced interface
and additional features. However, the BIOS is still used in many older computers
and is still important for the initial boot of the operating system and hardware
configuration.
