Queridos estudiantes, buenas noches.

Como les prometí en clase, les estoy enviando las lecturas que
saldrán en la prueba de calidad, sobre las cuales usted debe aplicar
los conocimientos adquieridos en el transcurso de este período. Mi
propósito es que usted domine el vocabulario nuevo que encuentre en
estas lecturas para que se pueda desempeñar sin ninguna dificultad.
Les repito nuevamente, los temas que se tendrán en cuenta son:
1. Verbos (lista entregada desde el inicio del año)
2. Phrasal verbs
3. Conditionals.

GINA’S BLOCK
Yesterday, it was my birthday and it didn’t start well. I went to the park

to meet my friends, but they weren’t there. I decided to look for them.

First, I went to the shopping center opposite the park, but they weren’t

there, next, I looked for them at the library, but they weren’t there.

Then, I tried the sports center and the restaurant near the park, but my

friends weren’t there. Finally, I went home, and my friends there with a

birthday cake, ice cream, music and games. It was a surprise party for

me! In the end I had a great birthday.

Ayer fue mi cumpleaños y no empezó bien. Fui al parque a ver a mis

amigos, pero no estaban allí. Decidí buscarlos. Primero fui al centro

comercial frente al parque, pero no estaban allí, luego los busqué en

la biblioteca, pero no estaban allí. Luego, probé el centro deportivo y

el restaurante cerca del parque, pero mis amigos no estaban allí.

Finalmente, me fui a casa, y mis amigos allí con un pastel de

cumpleaños, helado, música y juegos. Fue una fiesta sorpresa para

mí! Al final tuve un gran cumpleaños.

THE STOLEN FERRARI

Two football fans were arrested last night near the stadium. The
suspects were taken to the police station for further investigation. They
allegedly stole a brand Ferrari.
The owner of the car told the police that the thieves were wearing a
football team jersey. After the suspects were caught, the owner of the
car was called to identify the thieves.
However, the owner of the car said that he had made a huge mistake
because the car hadn’t been stolen; the car had been taken by his wife
to go to a concert because her car was broken.
An apology was offered to the two football fans; besides, the owner of
the car offered to give them 5000 dollars to compensate his mistake.
The money wasn´t accepted. The two football fans will be released
tomorrow morning.
EL FERRARI ROBADO
Dos aficionados al fútbol fueron arrestados anoche cerca del estadio.
Los sospechosos fueron llevados a la estación de policía para una
mayor investigación. Supuestamente robaron una marca Ferrari.
El propietario del coche dijo a la policía que los ladrones llevaban una
camiseta del equipo de fútbol. Después de que los sospechosos
fueron capturados, el propietario del coche fue llamado para
identificar a los ladrones.
Sin embargo, el dueño del coche dijo que había cometido un gran
error porque el coche no había sido robado; el coche había sido
tomado por su esposa para ir a un concierto porque su coche estaba
roto.
Se ofreció una disculpa a los dos aficionados al fútbol; además, el
dueño del coche ofreció darles 5000 dólares para compensar su error.
El dinero no fue aceptado. Los dos aficionados al fútbol serán
liberados mañana por la mañana.

PAULA RADCLIFFE’S DAY

I´m an English runner who has won the
world marathon six times. I also won
four marathons in the USA and three in
London. These are the activities I do
when I´m not in a competition:
8:30 am - My daughter Vicky comes to
our room before we wake up and says
good morning to Gary and me. Later, I
eat some melon and give cereal to her.
Then, I have a look at the newspaper.
9:45 am - We leave Vicky at her theatre class; then, I run and Gary
cycles next to me to keep me close to my time goal. I sometimes surf
after this.
11:45 am - After meeting Vicky at school, we get home and have a big
lunch. Then, I play with her.
2:10 pm - Gary usually takes Vicky out while I sleep- When I get up, I
boil some water for tea.
7:30 pm - In the evening, Gary gives Vicky tea while I finish doing my
exercises. Afterwards, I cook dinner while Gary gives Vicky a bath.
8:20 pm - Vicky goes to bed. I read my friend´s messages on the
computer, watch volleyball on TV, and have a conversation with Gary.
10:30 pm - Time for bed. I brush my teeth and wash my hands and
face. I enjoy reading, but I haven´t done it much since Vicky was born.
I also wish I had time for playing the drums, but I would wake Vicky up.

EL DÍA DE PAULA RADCLIFFE

Soy una corredora inglésa que ha ganado la maratón mundial seis

veces. También gané cuatro maratones en Estados Unidos y tres en
Londres. Estas son las actividades que hago cuando no estoy en un
concurso:
8:30 am - Mi hija Vicky viene a nuestra habitación antes de despertar y
dice buenos días a Gary y a mí. Más tarde, como un poco de melón y
le doy cereal. Entonces, tengo una mirada en el periódico.
9:45 am - Dejamos a Vicky en su clase de teatro; luego, corro y Gary
gira a mi lado para mantenerme cerca de mi objetivo de tiempo. A
veces surfeo después de esto.
11:45 am - Después de conocer a Vicky en la escuela, llegamos a
casa y tenemos un gran almuerzo. Luego, juego con ella.
2:10 pm - Gary usualmente saca a Vicky mientras duermo- Cuando
me levanto, hiervo un poco de agua para el té.
7:30 pm - Por la noche, Gary le da té a Vicky mientras termino de
hacer mis ejercicios. Después, cocino la cena mientras Gary le da un
baño a Vicky.
8:20 pm - Vicky se va a la cama. Leo los mensajes de mi amigo en la
computadora, veo voleibol en la televisión y tengo una conversación
con Gary.
10:30 pm - Hora de dormir. Me cepillo los dientes y me lavo las manos
y la cara. Me gusta leer, pero no lo he hecho mucho desde que nació
Vicky. También desearía tener tiempo para tocar la batería, pero
despertaría a Vicky.
