WILL

Lo primero que debes saber es que will es un auxiliar, también conocido

como verbo modal. Esto quiere decir que nos valemos de él para crear una
forma del verbo, en este caso, el futuro.

ESTRUCTURA:
Afirmativa: Sujeto + will + verbo principal
Negativa: Sujeto + will not/won’t verbo
principal
Interrogativa: Will + sujeto + verbo principal?
*Cuando usamos el will el verbo principal NO
termina en -s o es- en la 3º persona singular

USOS

• Para expresar una decisión tomada al momento de hablar:

I will call him right now. –Lo llamaré ahora mismo.

I’ll help you with those bags. –Te ayudaré con esas bolsas.
I won’t let you pass. –No te dejaré pasar.
 • Para hacer predicciones. En este caso se trata de predicciones
generales sobre algo que creemos que sucederá en algún
momento futuro.
It will rain. –Lloverá.
He will win the race tomorrow. –El ganará la carrera mañana.
Don’t worry, you won’t have any troubles during your trip. –No te
preocupes, no tendrás problemas durante tu viaje.

GOING TO

ESTRUCTURA:
Afirmativa: Sujeto + to be (conjugado) + going to +
verbo principal
Negativa: Sujeto + to be (conjugado) + not/’nt + going
to + verbo principal
Interrogativa: to be (conjugado) + sujeto + verbo
principal?

USOS

• Para expresar tus planes o intenciones futuras:

Are you going to make pizza for dinner?. – ¿Vas a hacer pizza para
la cena?
I’m going to travel next week. – Voy a viajar la próxima semana.
I’m not going to waste my money if I win the lottery. – No voy a
malgastar mi dinero si gano la lotería.
 • Para predicciones con evidencia física, es decir, existe algo que nos
ayuda a soportar la predicción que estamos haciendo:

Look at the clouds! It’s going to rain. –¡Mira las nubes! Va a llover.
He has studied a lot. He’s going to pass the exam. –El ha estudiado
mucho. El va a pasar el examen.
She’s not going to come. She’s very sick. – Ella no va a venir. Está
muy enferma.

EJERCICIO

Completa las oraciones con will o be going to.

1. The phone rings, you answer it. The caller wants to speak to your
husband.

2. The weather was so nice that you decide to go for a walk. Your
friend asked you:
