EDS podría vender luego. Banc one no le preocupo que otros bancos tuvieran acceso al
software porque creían que su verdadera competitividad estaba en la experiencia del cliente.
George Stalk uses the term capability predators to refer to a company that has built a strategic
value chain with a level of excellence that can not be easily copied and is also used to
aggressively move into new areas.
Different types of capabilities can provide predator opportunities. For example, the excellent
canon manufacture made it strong in the early 80's. Toyota's development in lean
manufacturing made it strong in the car industry.
Building information systems that support the company is difficult and expensive. In Banc One,
the cost is greater than 100 million, which is why we partnered with EDS to build a system,
which EDS could then sell. Banc one did not worry about other banks having access to the
software because they believed that their true competitiveness was in the customer's
experience.
