Simple past and Past continuous

Simple past: We use it when we want to express past activities that finished in the past or were completed.
Some common expression: (1 week, 1 year,2 days) ago, last (year, week, months), yersterday.
The auxiliary verb id DID.

In simple past we can find:

Regular verbs : they finished in -ed. Cooked, played, tried, jumped,etc.
Irregular verbs : They change or stay the same. Eat-ate, go-went, sit-sat, write-wrote, etc.

Past Continuous: We use it to express an action in progress in past.

Example: I was cleaning my bed at 4:00 pm.
They were painting the house all the morning.
