A. The regular ending of the simple past tense is -ed-; it added to the simple form of the verb. If the verb ends in - e-,
only -d- is added.
B. The ending -ed- or- d- is pronounced (t) after a voice less sound [p], [k], [f], [s], [ts]. After a voiced sound, it is
pronounced [d]. If the verb end in t or d, it is pronounced as a separed syllable :(id)

C. The Variations in spelling of the simple past tense are as follow: 1) when the simple form of the verb ends in a
single consonant preceded by a single vowel and the stress is on the last syllable, the consonant is doubled before a
saffix beginning with a vowel
Example:
stop- stopped
Omit- omitted
D. the simple past tense is generally used to express an action completed at a definite time in past
Example:
Robert walked home with her last night
Virginia studied very hard yesterday
the Negative and Interrogative form we use verb do in did (did+ not = didn't)
