THE INDEFINITE ARTICLE A – AN- SOME. (UN, UNA, UNOS UNAS)
El artículo indefinido A = UN, UNA, se usa delante de palabras que empiezan por una
consonante. Example A book = un libro
El articulo indefinido AN = un una, se usa delante de palabras que empiezan por una
consonante o H muda. Example: AN orange = una naranja, an hour = una hora.
El artículo indefinido SOME = UNOS, UNAS, ALGUNOS, ALGUNAS, se usa delante de palabras
que están en plural. Example: SOME BOOKS, unos libros-
EXCERCISES.
Coloque A, AN, SOME en los espacios en blanco.

THE DEFINITE ARTICLE “THE” (EL, LA, LOS LAS)
El artículo definido “THE” significa el, la los las. Se usa delante de palabras tanto el singular
como en plural. Example : the book – the books , el libro, los libros.
SINGULAR PLURAL

the board the boards los tableros
the cat the cats
El artículo definido THE, no se usa con las formas de tratamiento como: Mr = señor, Dr,
doctor, Mrs= señora, Miss = señorita. No se usa con los nombres de dignidades como:
president Duque = el president Duque.
Examples: = Mr Ortiz, el señor Ortiz, Mrs Lagarejo = la señora lagarejo. Miss Conchis la
señorita Conchis.

LOS DEMOSTRATIVOS THAT, THIS, THESE, THOSE
THAT: Significa ESA, ESE, ESO, AQUEL, AQUELLO, AQUELLA. Es un pronombre demostrativo que
se usa para indicar que un objeto está lejos del hablante. Example. THAT IS A WINDOW 0 esa
es una ventana
THIS. Significa ESTE, ESTO, ESTA, Es un pronombe demostrativo que se usa para indicar que un
objto esta cerca del hablante. Example: THIS IS A PEN- este es un lapicero.
THOSE. Significa ESAS, ESOS. Se usa con palabras que están en plural.
THESE: significa ESTOS, ESTAS. Se usa con palabras que están en plural.
Example: those books = esos libros. These books , estos libros
Those are some notebooks = esos son unos cuadernos
These are some bags - estos son unos bolsos.
Is that a pencil? Es ese un lapis?
Yes, that is a pencil. Si ese es un lápiz
Is this an umbrella? Es esta una sombrilla?
No, this is not an umbrella. No, esa no es una sombrilla.

THE PLURAL OF NOUNS = EL PLURAL DE LOS SUSTANTIVOS
REGLA 1.
Algunas sustantivos forman el plural agregando “s”
Example: hat – sombrero hats – sombreros
The house = la casa the houses = las casas
The door- la puerta the doors = las puertas
The student The students
REGLA 2
Los sustantivos que terminan en SS, CH, SH, O, X, Z “Y” forman el plural agregando “ES”
SINGULAR PLURAL
THE KISS el beso the kisses los besos
The DISHES el plato the dishes = los platos
The church la iglesia the churches
The tomato = el tomate the tomatoes= los tomates
The box= la caja the boxes =las cajas
The buzz =el zumbido the buzzes= los zumbidos
Las palabras que terminan en Y tienen dos usos. 1. Si la Y va delante de una consonants cambia
la Y por i agregamos ES. Example: study- studies, studio, estudios.
2. si la la palabra termina en Y y delante de la Y va una vocal no cambia, solo agregamos una
S. Example DAY- DAYS - dia, dias.

REGLA 3
Los sustantivos que terminan en F o FE forman el plural cambiando F por V y se agrega ES.

Los plurals irregulars de los sustantivos se forman diferentes.

ENSEÑADOS. (FORMAS AFIRMATIVA, NEGATIVA E INTERROGATIVA.
Mire el example: The tomato is on the dish = el tomate está sobre el plato.
The tomatoes are on the dish = los tomates están sobre el plato. The tomatoes aren´t on the
dish. Los tomates no están sobre el plato. Are the tomatoes on the dish? Están los tomates
sobre el plato?

Las palabras interrogativas son :
WHERE = DONDE? Se usa oara lugares
WHEN = CUANDO? Se usa para fechas
WHAT = QUE? Se usa para cosas
HOW : CÓMO? Se pregunta la edad
WHO? QUIÉN? Se usa para personas.
WHICH? CUÁL? Se usa para cosas
Where do you live? ¿Dónde vives?
When is your birthday? ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?
What is your name? ¿Cuál es tu nombre?
What is that? ¿Qué es eso?
What is this? ¿Qué ese esto?

USO DE THERE IS Y THERE ARE ( HAY)
THERE IS Signica HAY. SE usa para el singular, es decir para un solo objeto.
THERE ARE significa HAY. Se usa para el plural, es decir con dos o mas objetos.
Example:
There is a potato on the floor. Hay una papa sobre el piso.
There are three potatoes on the floor. Hay tres papas sobre el piso.
There is not a potato on the floor. No hay una papa sobre el piso.
There are not three potatoes on the floor. No hay tres papas sobre el piso.

TIENE DOS REGLAS. STUDY STUDIES. ES PORQUE DELANTE DE LA “Y” HAY UNA
CONSONANTE.CAMBIA y POR IES. CRY CRIES. CUANDO HAY UNA VOCAL DELANTE DE LA Y NO
CAMBIA SOLO AGREGA LA S. DAY DAYS
Todas las reglas están explicadas y con ejemplos. Hay unos que son muy irregulars. Estos no
agregan s ni es. Child –children. Alli esté en la guia.
