Pronunciation

The Sound

[k] Deberá leerse siempre como la [c] española delante de a,o,u--


key
[ch] Deberá leerse [ch], como en español---chair, matches
[s] Se deberá leer como la [s] inicial española--- seven, this
[z] Se deberá leer siempre como la [s] sonora española--zoo
[j] No tiene equivalencia en español. ---judge
[h] Se leerá como su equivalente en español [ j ]---heroe, house
[n] Se lee [n] nasal como en el español <<fango>>
[d] y Se pronuncian siempre apoyando la lengua contra el paladar---door,

Las vocales

Las vocales inglesas no siempre tienen el mismo sonido. Las vocales se llaman
“largas” en ingles cuando tienen el sonido alfabético. Ejemplos:
Hate la <<a>> se pronuncia (ei)
Key la <<e>> se pronuncia (ii)
Find la <<i>> se pronuncia (ai)
Rose la <<o>> se pronuncia (ou)
Tube la <<u>> se pronuncia como la <<u>> en español

Indefinite article (a/an)


Use “a” with nouns starting with a consonant, “an” with nouns starting with a
vowel.

Definite article (the)


Los artículos determinados españoles él, la, los, las, tienen un solo equivalente
en ingles: the.
Se utiliza tanto para el femenino como para el masculino; tanto para el singular
como para el plural.

Pluralization

Almost all names of things and animals make the plural adding s.

General Rules of Pluralization

1.- Words ending is S,SS, Z,SH,CH,X, make the plural adding ES

2.- Words ending in Y have two ways:


a) Preceded by a vowel just add S.

b) Preceded by a consonant change Y for I and add ES:
