Teodoro Fernández Meyzán
teodoro «Lolo» Fernández Meyzán (San Vicente de Cañete, Cañete, 20 de mayo de 1913 -
Lima, 17 de septiembre de 1996)
fue un futbolista peruano que jugaba como delantero. Toda su labor futbolística la
cumplió como jugador del Club Universitario de Deportes de la Primera División del Perú.
Es el máximo ídolo del cuadro crema y del fútbol peruano
Con la selección de fútbol del Perú disputó treinta y dos encuentros y anotó veinticuatro
goles,1718 siendo hasta la fecha el tercer máximo goleador de la blanquirroja y el único de
esta lista que tiene dos trofeos: la medalla de oro de los Juegos Bolivarianos de 1938 y el
Campeonato Sudamericano 1939. Participó en los Juegos Olímpicos de Berlín 1936, en los
Juegos Bolivarianos de 1938 y en seis ediciones del Campeonato Sudamericano de
Selecciones (1935, 1937, 1939, 1941, 1942 y 1947), del cual es el tercer máximo goleador
histórico con quince anotaciones
Fue uno de los seleccionados del Perú y Chile que conformaron el denominado
Combinado del Pacífico, integrado por futbolistas de los clubes Alianza Lima, Atlético
Chalaco, Colo-Colo y Universitario de Deportes que entre septiembre de 1933 y marzo de
1934 disputaron treinta y nueve partidos amistosos en Europa, siendo el máximo goleador
con cuarenta y ocho tantos.20
He began his career as a footballer in March 1930, playing in the reserve team of
Universitario de Deportes and at the end of that same year he became the absolute scorer
of the tournament, for which he was promoted to the first team. He debuted officially on
November 29, 1931, in an international friendly against Deportes Magallanes de Chile. He
defended the University shirt for twenty-three uninterrupted years. In that period he
obtained six titles, also consecrating as a scorer of the Peruvian Football Championship
seven times.
With the soccer team of Peru he played thirty-two games and scored twenty-four goals,
17-18 being to date the third top scorer of the blanquirroja and the only one on this list
that has two trophies: the gold medal of the Games Bolivarianos of 1938 and the South
American Championship 1939. He participated in the Olympic Games of Berlin 1936, in the
Bolivarian Games of 1938 and in six editions of the South American Championship of
Selections (1935, 1937, 1939, 1941, 1942 and 1947), of which the third highest scorer with
fifteen annotations
It was one of the selected from Peru and Chile that formed the so-called Combinado del
Pacífico, composed of soccer players from the Alianza Lima, Atlético Chalaco, Colo-Colo
and Universitario de Deportes clubs, which between September 1933 and March 1934
played thirty-nine games friendly in Europe, being the top scorer with forty-eight goals.20
In 1952, Universitario opened its own stadium with the name of Lolo Fernández, being a
unique case in Peruvian and South American football: a sports venue receiving the name
of a footballer in activity. In that same year he received the Sports Laurels and in 2012 he
joined the Peruvian Sports Hall of Fame
