El Consejo de Gabinete, autorizó que se realice una precalificación para las empresas que opten

por participar en la licitación para el desarrollo del proyecto “Cuarta Línea de Transmisión
Eléctrica 500 kv Chiriquí Grande – Panamá III.
“La culminación de este proyecto tiene un impacto positivo importante en la economía nacional,
pues con un sistema eléctrico robusto y estable podemos garantizar energía para el desarrollo
de la industria y el comercio, y lograr que más empresas vengan a Panamá a invertir”
El proyecto por desarrollarse por el Gobierno a través de la Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica,
S.A. (ETESA), busca aumentar la capacidad de transmisión de energía de alta tensión,
proveniente de las provincias de Chiriquí y Bocas del Toro hacia Panamá, teniendo un recorrido
por el sector atlántico del país.
Esta obra de unos 317 km de longitud se espera sea licitada y adjudicada este mismo año; en
el 2019 arranquen sus trabajos y para el 2022 inicie operaciones comerciales.
La Cuarta Línea tendrá una capacidad de transporte de 1,400 MW en condiciones normales de
operación y 1,800 MW en condiciones de emergencia.
Al ser la más grande que operará en el país, (las actuales funcionan en 115 y 230 KV), se busca
garantizar a través de la precalificación que el contratista tenga las capacidades financieras y
técnicas para desarrollar el proyecto.
En octubre del año pasado, el presidente Juan Carlos Varela inauguró la III Línea de
Transmisión Eléctrica, cuyo costo fue superior a los B/. 350 millones, la cual ha permitido contar
con un sistema eléctrico estable para garantizar la energía para el desarrollo de la industria y el
comercio.
 Cabinet authorizes pre-qualification for development of
"fourth line of electric transmission"

The cabinet Council authorized that a prequalification be made for the companies
that opt to participate in the tender for the development of the project "fourth
line of electric transmission 500 kv Chiriquí Grande – Panama III.

The project to be developed by the Government through the company of Electric

Transmission, S.A. (ETESA), seeks to increase the capacity of transmission of
energy of high tension, coming from the provinces of Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro
towards Panama, having a Tour of the Atlantic sector of the country.

This work of about 317 km in length is expected to be tendered and awarded this
year; In (2018- 2019) start their work and for the 2022 start commercial
operations.

The fourth line will have a transport capacity of 1.400 MW under normal
operating conditions and 1.800 MW in emergency conditions.

Being the largest that will operate in the country, (the current works in 115 and
230 KV), it seeks to guarantee through the prequalification that the contractor
has the financial and technical capacities to develop the project.

In October last year, President Juan Carlos Varela inaugurated the III electric
transmission line, the cost of which was higher than the B/. 350 million, which
has enabled a stable electrical system to ensure energy for the development of
industry and commerce.
