Tranca de mayo
Cada primero de mayo se acostumbra hacer tuyuyos de haba que son tamalitos preparados
con masa mezclada con manteca de cerdo o margarina y sal. Luego se preparan las habas,
pelándolas y debidamente molida, se sazona con pimienta grande molida, manteca y sal, se
va haciendo una tortilla de masa de maíz y se mezcla con haba, esta tortilla se enrolla y se
envuelve en hojas de milpa o dobladores.
19 de julio
Se celebra el nacimiento del General Justo Rufino Barrios, para lo cual se acostumbra realizar
un desfile con la participación de los niños y jóvenes de los diferentes centros educativos de
todo el municipio, llevando pancartas y mantas describiendo las labores tan importantes que
realizó el General por el bien del país.
8 de agosto
Se lleva a cabo el “maitin”, que es anunciar la fiesta agustina del pueblo. Se escucha el
repique de las campanas de la iglesia, se anuncia la alborada, el día 8 la cofradía reparte a los
devotos católicos, pan, salporas y el batido, que es un atole preparado con nixtamal y jengibre
el cual es adornado con una dalia que es la flor simbólica de San Lorenzo.
MUNICIPALITY OF SAN LORENZO
The municipality of San Lorenzo is located in the San MarcosDepartment, specifically in

History of the municipality of San Lorenzo

Origin of the name

Description
