BIOGRAFÍA DE MALUMA

Juan Luis Londoño Arias (Medellín, 28 de enero de 1994) conocido por su nombre
artístico Maluma, es un cantante, compositor y diseñador de modas colombiano. Desde
muy joven mostró interés por el fútbol y la música. Con quince años grabó su primera
canción con la ayuda de un tío; en 2010 vio clases de canto, y un año después lanzó su
sencillo debut, «Farandulera», que se convirtió en un éxito en Colombia, y firmó un
acuerdo de grabación con el sello Sony Music Latin. En 2012, se publicó su álbum de
estudio debut, Magia, que ha vendido más de diez mil copias en Colombia. Del disco se
lanzaron los sencillos «Obsesión», «Pasarla bien», «Primer amor» y «Miss Independent»
que tuvieron un éxito moderado en el territorio colombiano. Con «La temperatura» ganó
fama en varios países de Sudamérica y en la 14.ª Premios Grammy Latino 2013 estuvo
nominado al Mejor Artista Nuevo.

En 2014 y 2015 Maluma sirvió como juez y entrenador en La Voz Kids. En octubre de 2015
salió al mercado su segundo álbum de estudio, Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy, y su primera línea
de ropas. Maluma es considerado por los críticos especializados como uno de los artistas
de «música urbana de mayor impacto» en Latinoamérica.

Biografía y carrera artística

1994-2010: infancia e inicios de su carrera

Maluma nació como Juan Luis Londoño Arias el 28 de enero de 1994 en Medellín,
Colombia. Hijo de Marlli Arias y Luis Londoño; tiene una hermana mayor llamada
Manuela, que «estudió psicología y filosofía». Desde muy joven su padre lo llevó a
partidos de fútbol, lo que lo incentivó a practicar el deporte por ocho años seguidos. Él
ocupó las divisiones inferiores de los equipos Atlético Nacional y Equidad Club Deportivo.
Asumismo participó en torneos de voleibol, pimpón, ajedrez, entre otros deportes.
Maluma también estaba interesado en hacer música, pasión que mostró tanto en su casa
como en el la escuela, aunque sus allegados pensaban que era debido a su intranquilidad.
Maluma asistió al colegio Hontanares en Medellín; él escribía cartas a encargo para las
novias de sus compañeros de clases. En el décimo grado participó en un concurso de
canto y obtuvo el primer puesto de la competencia con el tema «Tengo ganas» de Andrés
Cepeda, y en diciembre de ese mismo año protagonizó una obra de teatro.

Con quince años compuso con un allegado una canción titulada «No quiero», y un año
después Juan Parra, su tío, le ofreció como regalo de cumpleaños grabar la canción en un
estudio. Inicialmente, no tenía intenciones de enfocarse en la música; «sin embargo,
sorprendió a un grupo de productores que terminaron por ofrecerle grabar un disco, no
sin antes advertirle que necesitaba un nombre más sonoro, fácil de recordar y bien
recibido en el círculo del género urbano», así, adoptó el nombre artístico de Maluma, que
es una combinación de las dos primeras letras del nombre de su madre Marlli, su padre
Luis y su hermana Manuela. Según el mismo artista: «Es un homenaje a ellos porque los
amo y son el motor de mi carrera». Sobre su decisión de ser músico, sostiene que fue
muy difícil elegir entre el fútbol y la música, ya que ambas actividades lo apasionan. Su
padre, en un principio se opuso a la idea del cantante, alegando que Maluma había
dedicado mucho tiempo al fútbol y también porque desdaba que fuera un futbolista
exitoso y no un cantante de reguetón; pero luego lo apoyó en su decisión. En 2010, con
dieciséis años, Maluma comenzó a recibir instrucción vocal, y cursando el último año de
bachillerato, decidió lanzarse definitivamente al estrellato.

Maluma was born as Juan Luis Londoño Arias on January 28, 1994 in Medellín, Colombia. Son
of Marlli Arias and Luis Londoño; has an older sister named Manuela, who "studied psychology

encouraged him to practice the sport for eight years in a row. Student of the lower divisions of

that same year he starred in a play.
With fifteen years he composed with a song titled "I do not want", and a year later Juan Parra,
his uncle, gift of birthday gift to record the song in a study. Initially, he had no intention of
focusing on music; "However, he surprised a group of producers who ended up creating a
