In Japan it is customary to prepare Osechi Ryri, New Year's food that is
prepared a few days before.
The Osechi Ryri is composed of several dishes and everything that is used is related to life, health, harvest and good luck. * Datemaki ( ): is a kind of sweet tortilla but rolled, made with eggs and a fish paste. It means: days of prosperity in culture and progress in studies. * Kamaboko ( ): is a white and pink fish paste, steamed on a wooden board. It means: the rising sun (by its shape). * Kobumaki ( ): they are winded algae. It means: joy, happiness. * Namasu ( ): Japanese turnip and carrot cut into thin slices and pickles. It means: peace and quiet. * Kuromame ( ): sweet black beans means: living and working with health. * Kurikinton ( ): sweet chestnut puree means: fortune and success in business, by its color (gold = money)
* Onishime ( ): is a set of vegetables simmered. It means: energy
and hope.
* Tazukuri ( ): dried sardines, cooked with a sweet sauce. It means:
a good harvest.

hecha a base de huevos y una pasta de pescado. Significa: das de prosperidad en la cultura y progreso en los estudios. * Kamaboko ( es una pasta de pescado de color blanco y rosado, cocinada al vapor sobre una tablita de madera. Significa: alegra, felicidad, porque la palabra kobu se pronuncia igual que el kobu de yorokobu = alegrarse, ser feliz) * Namasu ( nabo japons y zanahoria cortados en lminas finas y encurtidas. Significa: paz y tranquilidad. * Kuromame ( porotos negros dulces. Significa: vivir y trabajar con salud. * Kurikinton ( es un pur dulce de castaas. Significa: fortuna y xito en los negocios, por su color (dorado = dinero) * Onishime ( es un conjunto de verduras cocidas a fuego lento. Significa: energa y esperanza .
