Cusco / Pitumarca / Chillca

Nuestro viaje empieza en la ciudad del Cusco con

direccin al sur, pasando por la laguna Huacarpay y los
Templos coloniales de Huaro y Canincunca. En
Checacupe se toma el desvo hacia Pitumarca, distrito
pintoresco con tradiciones ancestrales y considerado
como la capital del tejido andino. Al llegar se puede
visitar el Templo colonial de Pitumarca, decorado
originalmente con pinturas al fresco y de la Escuela.
Continuaremos el ascenso en bus por una trocha
durante una hora y media hasta llegar a la comunidad
de Chillca, donde nos encontraremos con nuestros
Arrieros locales y comenzar la caminata hasta el lugar
designado para el almuerzo, donde los lugareos
presentarn una actividad ancestral para el deleite de
los turistas. Despus del almuerzo se continuar con la
caminata por la senda del camino Inca disfrutando el
paisaje andino rodeado y acompaado por las
montaas sagradas (Apus), de la cadena del Vilcanota,
hasta llegar a Pampacorral, ubicado en las faldas del
Apu Ausangate, donde se acampar.

El proyecto Generacin de Empleo mediante la consolidacin del
turismo de trekking en Ausangate y Ollanta, busca desarrollar
oportunidades econmicas de los pobladores locales, especialmente
de aquellos en situacin de pobreza, a travs de la actividad turstica
de trekking, nicho de turismo identificado como de gran demanda en
los mercados potenciales.

Pampacorral / Ausangatecocha
Este da es muy especial: despus del desayuno un
Sacerdote andino realizar una ofrenda a los Apus
sagrados donde el pasajero podr participar y llevarse
una experiencia inolvidable. A lo largo del camino
hacia el Abra Palomani (5200 m.s.n.m.), se tendr la
oportunidad de ver manada de vicuas, alpacas y
llamas en su hbitat natural. Al mismo tiempo,
disfrutar convivir con el Apu tutelar ms importante
de la cultura Inca: El Ausangate.

El Osqollo o Gato Andino es el felino ms raro de Amrica y

est en peligro de extincin. La Comunidad de Chillca ha
resuelto protegerlo mediante la creacin del rea de
Conservacin Privada Chillca. Este destino turstico te
llevar por una ruta rodeada de majestuosas montaas
consideradas sagradas acorde a la cosmovisin andina con
un pico nevado de ms de 6370 msnm: el Apu Ausangate

altas, la ruta recorre el hbitat de vicuas, vizcachas,
pumas, gatos andinos, zorros, zorrinos, venados,
ratones andinos, una gran diversidad de aves como
cndores, halcones, cara caras, gansos andinos, patos
cordilleranos,
jilgueros,
lechuzas,
picaflores,
zambullidores, aguiluchos, jilgueros, pichincos, entre
otros.

El
de la zona es caracterstico de la serrana
peruana en donde presentan dos estaciones climticas
marcadas por la presencia de lluvias. Una hmeda con
precipitaciones de octubre y marzo, en la cual los cielos
cubiertos impiden que se produzcan las temperaturas
altas propias del verano del sur, y una estacin seca, en
la que los cielos se despejan, el aire es clido en el da y
se enfra en la noche con heladas habituales al
anochecer y al amanecer.

QUIENES SOMOS
Somos cuatro comunidades alto andinas del distrito de
Pitumarca. Estamos organizados bajo una sociedad de
turismo comunitario para ofrecer calidad de servicio a
quienes estn buscando una nueva experiencia junto a
nuestras montaas sagradas (APUS).
Somos comunidades quechua hablantes que an
mantenemos nuestras tradiciones en trabajos de
agricultura, en nuestro quehacer diario, como tambin
en nuestra vestimenta tradicional, como ponchos y
chullos.

Una
muy abrupta, vistas de montaa
nicas, lagunas, quebradas, glaciares, morrenas y otras
formaciones propias de la cordillera. El trekking se
aproxima hasta la base del nevado Ausangate, el
quinto nevado ms alto del Peru y uno de los Apus mas
importantes de la cultura Inca.

Day 1:

Cusco / Pitumarca / Chillca

The trip begins in Cusco City, heading south, passing

by the Huacarpay Laguna and the Huaro and
Canincunca colonial temples. In Checacupe the route
turns towards Pitumarca, a picturesque district with
ancestral traditions that is considered the capital of
the Andean textile. Upon arrival you can visit the
colonial temple of Pitumarca with its frescoes. The
route continues up the dirt road for about an hour and
a half until arriving to the Chillca community where we
will meet with the local herders. Here the trek begins
and takes us to our lunch spot, where the locals will
present an ancestral activity. In the afternoon, the hike
will continue along an Inca trail, enjoying the Andean
landscape, surrounded and accompanied by the
sacred mountains (Apus), of the Vilcanota chain, until
arriving at Pampacorral, located on the slopes of the
Apu Ausangte, where we will camp.

Day 2:

Pampacorral / Ausangatecocha
This day is a very special day: after breakfast, an
Andean priest will perform an offering to the Apu,
where one may participate and take home an
unforgettable experience. Along the way to the
Palomani Pass (5200 m. a. s. l), there will be an
opportunity to see herds of vicuas, alpacas, and
llamas in their natural habitat. At the same time
enjoying life with the guardian of all Apus, the most
important of the Inca culture: Ausangate. On the way
down, we will have lunch in a beautiful high grassy
plateau, close to a lake with the reflection of the Apu in
its waters. We will continue walking through a ravine
until arriving to the road where our car will be waiting
to take us back to Cusco.

The "Employment Generation by consolidating tourism and trekking

The Osqollo or Andean Cat is the rarest feline in the

Americas and it is in danger of extinction.
The Chillca Community has worked to protect the cat by
creating the Chillca Private Conservation Area. One of the
best things about this tourist destination is that it will take
you via a route surrounded by majestic mountains
considered sacred according to the Andean Cosmo vision,
with a snowy peak over 6370 m / 20900 ft: Apu Ausangate.

by the amount of rainfall. A wet season with rain from
October to March, in which the cloud covered skies
prevent the warm temperatures known in the south at
this time of year, and a dry season, in which the skies are
clear, the air is warm during the day and cold at night
with frost in the evening and morning.

WHO WE ARE
We are four high altitude Andean communities from
the district of Pitumarca. We are organized under a
community tourism society to be able to offer a quality
service to those who are looking for a new experience
in our sacred mountains (APUS).
We are Quechua speaking communities that still
maintain our traditions in our agricultural work, in our
day to day life, and in our traditional style of dress, such
as ponchos and chuyos (hats).

This area offers abrupt

, mountain
views, lakes, ravines, glaciers, moraines, and other
forms unique to the range. The trekking approaches
the base of the Ausangate snowcapped mountain, the
5th highest mountain in Peru and one of the most
important Apus in the Inca culture.
