2. Descripcin del documento

Este documento es una gua para la actualizacin de BIOS, cuando es realizada desde
disquete, en equipos IBM System X o X Series. Las pantallas de actualizacin pueden no
ser exactamente iguales a las descriptas en este documento, especialmente en equipos X
Series.
La matrz de software (firmware, drivers y aplicaciones) se encuentra en:

Una vez en la direccin web, habr que seleccionar el modelo de servidor y buscar la
actualizacin de BIOS deseada (ser la ltima si no se indica lo contrario).

3. Procedimiento
El procedimiento para actualizar POST/BIOS es:
Insertar el disquete "IBM System x0000 POST/BIOS Flash Diskette" en el floppy drive.
Iniciar o reiniciar el servidor.
El servidor debe estar configurado para arrancar desde disquete.
Aparecer la siguiente pantalla:

3 - Restore POST/BIOS from the backup version on a drive

Elija la opcin 1 Update POST/BIOS, aparecer la siguiente pantalla (dependiendo del

modelo de servidor):

El nmero que aparece entre corchetes es solo un ejemplo. NO CAMBIE EL NMERO DE

SERIE, presione N para pasar a la prxima pantalla.

El nmero que aparece entre corchetes es solo un ejemplo. NO CAMBIE EL NMERO DE

MODELO. Presione N para pasar a la prxima pantalla, que propone hacer un backup de
la versin de BIOS instalada actualmente en el equipo. Este paso es opcional, aunque se
recomienda hacerlo para conservar la versin anterior.

Una vez terminado el backup el nuevo BIOS ser aplicado. La prxima pantalla se
actualizar cada 30 segundos (tiempo requerido para actualizar cada bloque). Sin
embargo la lnea que dice: "Insert diskette for drive B: and press any key when
ready 2002", no sera acutalizada. Esto es normal. Las prximas pantallas son solo
informativas y no requieren intervencin.

Retire el disquete y presione una tecla para reiniciar. Inmediatamente despus del
reinicio entre al Setup de BIOS (presionando la tecla F1) y elija la opcin Load
Default Settings (cargar parmetros de fbrica) del men Configuration/Setup
Utility y presionar la tecla Intro. Salga del Setup de BIOS y elija la opcin Yes,
save and exit the Setup Utility. El equipo reiniciar automticamente.
