Scanner Fototeca.

La Fototeca Chiapas contiene 75 productos fotográficos –principalmente

negativos, transparencias y fotografías—de Gertrude Duby Blom y otros
fotógrafos. En este archivo se encuentran las fotografías de las
expediciones arqueológicas de Frans Blom, las cintas grabadas tanto en
cine como en audio de estas exposiciones, una importante colección de
videos de la música maya de los años 50 y la memoria fotográfica de Na
Bolom, principalmente.

La mayoría de los negativos son de 6 X 6 y están cortados individualmente,

en un sobre no ácido que a su vez está dentro de otro sobre de papel con
el número de negativo correspondiente y éste está engrapado a un
contacto que tiene el registro completo de la fotografía, incluyendo fecha,
lugar y hora.

El 2008 con apoyo de ADABI hicimos el inventario de la fototeca. En este

año empezaremos el catálogo digital de fotografías, cintas y negativos para
lo cual requerimos un scanner de tambor.

Barry Norris, quien fue durante 14 años quien revelaba las fotografías de
Gertrude y quien posee un importante estudio fotográfico en Estados
Unidos, nos recomendó comprar el scanner marca Imacon (Hasselblaud)
Flextight x1.

“This would work fine for Trudi's and Marcey's archives since they are
medium format. We don't need the more expensive version x5 as we can't
batch scan and can't speed things up as since each individual negative of
Trudi's and Marcey's needs it's own professionally oriented calibration which
I learned from Barry to do.

With the Flextight x1 NB may have to order a few extra adapters that are not
included and cost for those are about $200 each, especially if the 6 cm x 9

cm doesn't come with it. I think most of the needed adapters do come with
that model, but Trudi took the 6x9, early in her photog career here.

I hope this helps, in case the possibility arrises of any great donations
forthcoming from Denmark.

When I spoke with the Mexico dealer some 1.5 years ago it was worth
$13,000, but they would have then given us a 15% discount because we
have a photog teaching project (Club Balam). I don't know what the current
2009 deal would be.

But, I am really hoping that in the inmidiate future, if given the opportunity of
financial aid, we'll be able to scan first the finest selection of Trudi's color
slides, which have been losing their color and are getting moldy, and are
thus, in danger of extinction”.
