a y est , je suis revenue dgypte... Mais quel voyage! a na pas march comme prvu. Je te raconte : Dabord, quand on est arrivs laroport du Caire, plus de valises... Elles sont arrives six heures plus tard, juste cinq minutes avant le dpart pour Louxor. Ensuite jai mang des fruits mal lavs et jai eu une de ces coliques... Je ne suis pas sortie de ma cabine pendant deux jours ! Heureusement, il y avait la climatisation et la tl. Aprs, pendant la visite du mausole de lAga Klan, il faisait une chaleur pouvantable et jai attrap une insolation. Ne ris pas... Ctait trs grave. On a appel le mdecin durgence et je suis reste un jour de plus enferme dans ma cabine. Finalement, lavant-dernier jour, on a VOL mon sac, avec tout mon argent et mes papiers. Alors, ne me demande pas comment cest lgypte, parce que je nai rien vu. Mais tu me connais. Je ne me dcourage pas facilement : lanne prochaine, jy retourne, mais cette fois, avec toi. Grosses bises.

AMERICAN OBESITY PROBLEM

The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that about six out of 10 Americans were either overweight or obese. Furthermore, the prevalence of obesity almost doubled from about 15 percent in 1980 to 27 percent in 1999. Dr. J. McGinnis said the current weight statistics predict future problems. "Obesity now will lead to a higher number of deaths from diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain types of cncer, and increased prevalence of 5 osteoarthritis," The CDC noted that most schools have vending machines or snack bars including foods that are largely nutrient-poor and calorie-rich. People are also less likely to cook for themselves these days. Roughly half of all meis are consumed outside the home and many of these are from fast foods. "We have become year-by-year an increasingly sedentary society," McGinnis said. "People used to enjoy walking a half-mile or a quarter-mile but now they take the car 10 to go across the street. And instead of walking or playing sports during free time, children sit in front of the TV or computer. These are unhealthy habits because their muscles are not moving and transportation has become so easy that children are driven everywhere." So educating the public about healthy nutrition and exercise is essential, the experts said. Healthy foods and more intense physical activity in schools are also important. Aprs ces super vacances chez toi au Maroc, ctait difficile de reprendre la routine du lyce. La matire la plus difficile en ce moment, cest langlais. Nous avons un nouveau prof, qui est vraiment trs sympa, mais je ne comprends presque rien ! Je dois apprendre du vocabulaire, je crois ! Il y a une nouvelle lve dans la classe. Elle sappelle Elena et elle est espagnole. Elle va passer un an dans notre lyce, parce que son pre va travailler lambassade. Elle parle dj trs bien le franais mieux que moi lespagnol ! Elle est assez grande avec des cheveux bruns et friss. Elle te ressemble un peu ! Elle est sportive et sociable (comme moi !) et on sort souvent le week-end. Jespre quelle va maider amliorer mes notes en espagnol. Ce nest pas facile chez moi en ce moment. Papa est malade depuis cinq jours. Il a de la fivre et mal la tte. We have all seen such advertisements in the press and many of us have been tempted to write off in reply. But can the promises made by companies such as The Mind Surgery really be fulfilled? The answer is, surprisingly, yes. You dont, however, have to spend $500 to find out how. Today in Mind and Body we are printing another fascinating anecdote by a reader who has improved her memory. Cassie & Jack Harm are parents. When their eight year-old daughter, Natalie, asked them the order of the planets in our solar system, they found, much to their surprise, that they had forgotten. Of course, we looked it up in an encyclopaedia, explained Mrs Harm. But to make the order more memorable for our daughter we made up this sentence: Sunbeam, my very eccentric mouse, just sleeps under Natalies pillow. The first letter of each word is also the first letter of one of the planets. Two weeks later, when the children were having breakfast, Natalie impressed everyone by repeating the order. She had remembered! Whats more, she can now do the same thing with the colours of the rainbow, the seven deadly sins, and all the Kings and Queens of England. Although she may not have realized it, what Natalie was doing was making thought associations in order to remember things better: she used both the left and the right hemispheres of her brain.
