Origen del nombre:

La VI Región del Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins es una de las quince

regiones en las que se encuentra dividido Chile. Limita al norte con la V Región de Valparaíso y
la Región Metropolitana de Santiago, al sur con la VII Región del Maule, al este con la República
Argentina y al oeste con el Océano Pacífico. La región fue denominada en honor a Bernardo
O'Higgins, considerado como Libertador y Padre de la Patria en el país; debido al largo del nombre,
muchas veces es denominada simplemente como VI Región de O'Higgins.

Cuenta con una superficie de 16.387 km² y una población estimada al año 2006 de 849.120
habitantes. La región está compuesta por las provincias de Cachapoal,Cardenal
Caro y Colchagua y la capital regional es la ciudad de Rancagua.

Otras ciudades: Pichilemu, San Fernando y Santa Cruz.

RANCAGUA

Ubicada en la Región de O’Higgins, provincia de Cachapoal a tan solo 80 Km. Al sur de

Santiago. Fundada en 1743 por don José Antonio Manso de Velasco con el nombre de Villa Santa
Cruz de Tirana. En 1814 los días 1 y 2 de octubre se desarrollo la Batalla de Rancagua que marco
el fin de la Patria Vieja.

REQUINOA
Se encuentra localizada a 96 kilómetros al sur de Santiago, se encuentran viñas como: Anakena,
Chateau Los Boldos, Altaïr y Viña Gracia, bodegas que reciben visitas directas, con atractivos
recorridos guiados por los viñedos e instalaciones, donde se incluye la degustación de vinos. Esta
alternativa se puede combinar con almuerzos y asados al aire libre en los viñedos, entre otras
posibilidades

Ubicación: Comuna Requinoa. Situado a 18 kms. de Rancagua en un predio de Codelco El

Teniente Km. 26
Descripción: Es una franja que corre paralelo al Estero Los Leones hasta el Cerro Portezuelo de
las Nieves, a 1850 metros máximos de altitud, en el límite con Rengo. Posee un mirador con vista
al valle, y otro con panorámica al Estero Los Leones y cumbres aledañas.
Posee señalética de orientación, informativa y de educación ambiental, zona de picnic un puente
de tipo tirolesa sobre el estero Los Leones.
Tiempo recorrido: A pie ( 2días), bicicleta ( 1 día) , a caballo ( 1 día)
Rutas de Acceso : Desde la Ruta 5 sur en el cruce a Olivar se debe tomar la Ruta H-35 ( ruta
Colinas Verdes)
Origin of the name: The Region VI of the Liberator General Bernardo O'Higgins is one of the
15 regions in which is divided Chile. Bordered on the north with the Region V of Valparaiso and
the Santiago Metropolitan Region, to the south with the Region VII of Maule, this with the
Republic of Argentina and the west with the Pacific Ocean. The region was named in honor
Bernardo O'Higgins, considered as a Liberator and Father of the Nation in the country; due to
the length of the name, it is sometimes called simply as Region VI of O'Higgins. Account with
an area of 16,387 square kilometers and an estimated population to the year 2006 of 849,120
inhabitants. The region is composed of the provinces of Cachapoal,Cardinal Expensive and
Colchagua and the regional capital is the city of Rancagua. Other cities: Pichilemu, San
Fernando and Santa Cruz.
