Lectura

Reading

En lectura en espaol esta

semana terminamos el
puente de la clase de ingls
sobre figuras de 3D. Hicimos
un libro sobre las figuras de
3D en que estudiamos dulces
diferentes para identificar su
figura y contar cuntos lados
y cuntas esquinas tiene.
Tambin, lemos un libro que
se llama Abuela. El libro es
sobre una nia y su abuela.
Ellas viajan a lugares
diferentes en el mundo.
Estudiamos los lugares que
fueron, por ejemplo Nueva
York y la estatua de libertad.

In Spanish literacy this week

we finished the English
bridge on 3D shapes. We
made a book about 3D
shapes and studied different
types of candies to identify
their shape and count how
many edges and vertices
they have. Also, we read a
book called Abuela. The book
is about a girl and her
grandmother. They travel to
different places in the world.
We studied the places that
they traveled, for example
New York and the Statue of
Liberty.

using these in a real life

In Spanish writing this week

we wrote about the book
Abuela. We wrote down what
happened in the text by using
pictures and sentence frames
to support our writing. We
identified transition words in
the text and then practiced
our prepositional words in our
writing about the text.

During math we continued
practicing fractions. The
main fractions we are
focussing on are fourths,
thirds, halves, and 1 whole.
When you are at home with
your child please talk with
them about fractions as you
are dividing up items (ex:
slices on a pizza, sharing
portions of a game, etc.) as I
really would like them to
practice using the vocabulary.
Additionally, I continued to
meet with our small math
groupings working on the
specific math concepts that
were discussed at
conferences.
Finally, I will be highlighting
an app or website of the
week that you can use at
home with your child. This
week is a great resource
called Sheppard Software.
On the math section you will
find a variety of math
concepts with different games
to practice these. In class, I
mainly use the first

Social Studies/Science

Estudios sociales/ciencia

In social studies this week we

continued our unit on Maps
and Globes. This week we
talked about the differences
between pictorial maps and
maps of the world. We looked
at maps of the world and
talked about how land is
represented by green on the
map and the ocean or bodies
of water are represented by
blue. We also used Google
Maps to explore different
parts of the world! We will
finish our unit on maps and
globes next week.
