amarillo”

Alejandro Valverde, sexto en la duodécima etapa de la Vuelta a España

disputada hoy entre la ciudad de Almería y el Alto de Velefique sigue de
líder de la general donde adelanta a Cadel Evans en siete segundos.
“¡Un día menos de carrera y un día más en amarillo! La etapa de
hoy era una de las más importantes de esta Vuelta y la hemos
salvado muy bien.”
“Mi equipo de Caisse d’Epargne ha realizado un trabajo
impresionante durante todo el día y el ritmo que impusieron mis
compañeros en la última ascensión de Velefique limitó las
posibilidades de ataques. Iban tan rápido que era muy difícil
arrancar.”
“En el final cuando atacó Gesink, iba a rueda de Evans que por su
posición en la general es el corredor que más tengo que vigilar.
Creo que iba un poco justo, pero hay que decir también que
hemos sido todos bastante cautelosos porque hay que guardar
fuerzas para las dos próximas etapas.”
“Hoy, perdí unos segundos respecto a Gesink pero creo que
mañana se marcaran diferencias más importantes y espero estar

Alejandro Valverde, the sixth in stage 12 of the Tour of Spain which took
place today between Almería and the top of Velefique remains first
overall, seven seconds ahead of Cadel Evans.
“One day less to race and one more day with the yellow jersey!
The stage of today was one of the more important of this Vuelta
and I am happy with my result.”
“My team Caisse d’Epargne achieved a fantastic job during the
entire day and my team-mates’ rhythm in the last ascension of
Velefique made so that it was almost impossible to attack us.”
“In the final when Gesink attacked, I was in Evans’ Wheel
because for his position in the general he is the rider I have to
watch all the time. I believe he was not perfectly well but on the
other side we have to say that everybody was careful today
because we have to keep strength for the two next stages.”
“Today I lost a few seconds compared to Gesink but I believe that
there will be more important gaps tomorrow and I hope to be
ahead.”
